Opening a 2nd bank account with HSBC - the basic one with just a cashcard. I will be moving all my DDs over to there and transferring cash from my debit card account to HSBC to cover them. This will mean all the cash in my Northern account is for me to spend. Also, I will begin to get a credit profile with HSBC and will be able to upgrade in a year or so.0

The ID card is just another scheme where the Government can rob us of our money. It may cost £30 now but next year it'll be £50, then the year after £72.
The price will gradually be increased, just like the passport. Just another pain in the !!!! scheme thats wasted tax payers cash.
£77.50 for a passport. How could they justify that cost?? It can't be anymore than a few fence for the passport paper, and a few quid for the staff member to enter the information into the computer.
The £77.50 fee, a quarter of that sum goes towards Foreign Commonwealth Office, where they maintain British Consulates and Embassies around the world.
There is an increase cost as well for security measures like improved security features on passport amd passport production/design. It is a very expensive project and so cost has to increase.
British passport still give excellent value for money....if it was an adult passport for 10 years and it cost £100 quid, it would mean only £10 per year using the passport.
There are other countries where passport fees are more expensive than the British passport fees but mostly are around the same price range.
I much rather have a high quality secure document that can be trusted if it is going to cost a bit more.0 -
Anyone got an alternative number for Vanquis Accounts that actually works? I found some on saynoto0870 but they are all either card services or collections. Tried 0800 0190537 which is listed as nothing but I was speaking to a bloke in collections there too.
They won't deal with me through email  I wish all banks and card providers would do what Capital One do and provide the secure messaging service which means account details can be disclosed. Got an answer from them in a few hours - so much better than having to phone up0 -

Apparently because I didn't go through with the application in July it was cancelled, and so my decision on 27th November was a rejection in it's own right, not because of the one in July. So I have to wait until 27th May and they will consider me again. Or wait for the rejection letter to turn up so I can appeal it (although she didn't say that) .0
