I have been thinking about upgrading my capital one card from classic to progress.
If i close my classic account and apply for progress and get declined, will they offer my existing account back with same limit. My capital one limit is £1700 and am not sure if i should risk closing it.
    Any suggestions/advice?

Best you could do would be to phone up CS if you were declined and try and bargain with them....however Natwest have shown they don't give a damn, and wouldn't surprise me if Crap1 are the same

I want to close my account and reopen it (not yet obviously), problem is when they re-credit check me, my file will be awful because of the application spree I plan to go on in August...

Or will they take internal data into account, even though that account has been closed?

I am thinking of paying off and closing my Vanquis. The APR is 40% but the Ulster is 17.9% and the RISE is 18.9%.

    Thoughts?

I got accepted for the CapitalOne Progress with a £300 credit limit to start.

Just shows their system is rubbish, as I only closed my classic card a week or two ago with £200 limit which they refused to increase.

I guess I'm on the correct path for mainstream.

Funny that. I just spoke to CS at capital 1 today and asked them how long I'll have to wait before reapplying if i close my account. They said 6 months!

Thanks, am gonna close my account tomorrow. I need a better card lol.

How long does it actually take to get account closed from first day of making call?
  • Thats terrific! Thanks for the info^^,

Mine took 4 days, though they did say 5 weeks. I'm impatient though and applied straight away. I'll have to wait for the card before I know I've definitely been accepted.

I don't understand why they just can't "upgrade" your account to the progress card. Seems a bit strange to me...but meh
