Maybe the application went through twice and you got the result from the second app??

Odd indeed! Have you tried appealing?

    im just curious

roughly how many years of good history do you need to get a prime card

like say one of those 0% ones or something

None mate - I have 3 (Citi Gold; Bank of Ireland Gold & HSBC) all 0% and low apr.... I only had a Vanquis for 2 months and a HSBC bank account for 3 months when I started to get them.

Oh, at that time I had over 500 searches, 50 defaults, several cifas entries and god knows how many law suits with the CRA's.... I appealed each and got the account - I was victim of ID fraud using my same name and date of birth so was hard to prove.

I had to threaten the CRA's with court to get them to remove the data, a few days before court and £11k better off they walked away, tail between their legs and all data removed. I had them by the bollox cos I never lived at the address they purported as the linked one; it was impossible for them to win cos I have the proof that I never lived there - you know, ask the bloody neighbours etc if they knew me - none did (obviously) lol :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway, point is you can apply and may get lucky if you argue enough.... ;)

NID, i think your case are different as you are clearly a victim of fraud. What about people who murked up their credit history? Through appealing you have a chance as its not your fault.

Ya got an instant decline on line so sent appeal letter

    Just waiting on letter back

Have a Barclaycard Visa Basic one with 750 limit and flybee and silver card both with 1000 each

Going on your recent PM to me - you should stop applying until such time the linked address issue has been sorted out. You should contact the CRA's directly and provide them with your actual previous address history and ask for the incorrect addresses to be removed. If they do not comply, then you need to contact the ICO and have them sort it for you - but you will need to provide proof, obviously, to prove that they have made a mistake so any old bills etc will be good if you have any... :D

My case isn't that different mate cos the data was there and it was simply my word against theirs (the CRA's).... the thing is I had no credit prior to that so my point was they were taking a huge punt on me whatever way you look at it. :D

See below and this useful thread - it will answer your questions (to your PM's mate): Credit Reference Agencies
    Linked Addresses:
Lots of rumours about linked addresses keep flying around the forum, the truth of the matter is that there is no clear guidance for the period of retaining a linked address although 8 years seems to be the 'norm'.

The ICO stipulate that "A linked address may stay on your credit file as long as this information is relevant for credit referencing purposes." However, this was changed recently because it used to say "A linked address may be created when an account moves between addresses, such as when you move house, or when a lender checks your records at your previous address, or if you tell a credit reference agency about a previous or forwarding address. A linked address may stay on your credit file for 6 years after the link has been created."

So, to sum up, a linked address will be created when an account moves between addresses (such as when you move house); when a lender checks your records at your previous address or if you tell a CRA about a previous or forwarding address.

How long does the data remain?
The link will remain for a period of 6 years but no longer than 8 years. Each specific case is looked at by the CRA's between the 6 - 8 year period.

Anyone else got problems with JD Williams and Jacamo? I just logged in and they have reduced my credit limit from £500 to £150, luckily my balance is ony £194, which now means they want a payment of £44 - god knows what their beef is - it has happened to my Jacamo AND JD Williams account! They have kept my Fashion World one at £150!

I suspect a CIFAS or Nhunter thanks to Orange! Just checked Experian - nothing on there but cancelled Equifax yesterday, so could be something on there, as I did an in store varification process using them. Also they guy from Experian told me that JDW Group do not search them, or report to them anymore!

I placed on order on Wed which they cancelled! So annoyed, not missed a payment with em for 4 months (since I opened it)
