I applied for First Direct using the existing customer 'apply' within Internet Banking. They are sending out the application to sign and return along with a customer information update form.

They haven't even credit searched me yet.

That's a shame. I'm on a gap year at the moment (Working full time). I love my job and love working, but it's so much more stressful then education. I'm looking forward to going back to being a little less run off my feet come September.

I've applied for Information Systems, but contemplating asking to be moved to Computer Science. I want to be an ICT teacher.
I don't know, I mean the job I had before uni wasn't "proper" by any means, but I enjoyed it and was happy with how people had improved, partly because of me. With the degree it was good seeing 100% for the exam and stuff, but I know a lot of people finding it stressful. Since I realised how hard it was I was always expecting to fail and quit in the summer, so that took a lot of pressure off I guess, but others have to do assignments and stuff now and aren't finding it easy. I think if you've come out of a FT job you'll find first year less stressful, but Computer Science (if that's what you pick) is, from what I've heard, one of the worst as you go through the degree (that's why it's so respected), so I wouldn't hope for it to be less stressful 2nd or 3rd year!!

Good luck with uni though :). You have a confirmed place already then?

I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to get a job or not, my friend suggested (part joke, part serious) moving to his uni and doing a course there and living in their house (they still have a room free). He'll be in 2nd year on a totally unrelated course, but I've looked up the Computing courses and one course does seem much more appealing than what I was on.... plus it has a year work placement, and given the stack of money I now owe this place I'll need that! Entry requirements are a problem though, so will email them and see what they say... don't hold much hope though, although for some reason he does!

Well done! £45 a month though, thats like WOW, but then I'm paying £35 for a load of **** :rotfl:. Do your contract terms appear on your credit report? Never had confirmation from anyone if it's just mine thats screwed (and potentially a good thing) or if it's supposed to be like that?

N97 is tempting.... but I kind of need to keep hold of my 2k incase SLC demand their money back....hmmmmmm!! Will decide tomorrow :p

Tempting mate? Its a beauty and still only 5 months old (I am a nightmare for swapping phones!).... box and all attachments are brand new so is the phone lol.....

haha - I should be on sale of the century (showing my age now!)... but seriously, just checked out those mobile phone sites that buy them (I have a N96 & N97 for sale) and the thing that disturbs me, yea the prices are ok (£116 & £175), is the fact they don't want the box or attachments - just the phone and battery.

Now call me sad but i'm one of those people that keep boxes for things like that in pristine condition and I never use the headphones etc (why, I use my iPhone for music and my camera for photo's lol) so why don't they want them? What a waste - it saddens me.

I may chuck them both on eBay as a one deal - highest bid gets them both, but chances are they will be won for £12,000 from a loon in Africa! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Changing subjects somewhat, bearing in mind it is 04.27  why have the smilies changed? The puzzled one etc has gone, me no like

  • I also applied for first direct yesterday. Waiting for a decision. Used to be a customer years ago.

Got Email from them saying they will send out an app form to sign but the email was headed in someone elses name.

Nope, on the verge of being thrown out it seems. Course is hell, I'm on the wrong campus (long story!) so that causes problems, as well as having to leave hour & half before each lecture. Missed exam today, apparently I need to attempt each bit, even if I turned up and got 0, to stay on the course until the summer. Never knew that and was only attempting the bits I liked, whoops :rotfl:

Last week I was already about to jump before I was pushed, but was convinced to stay, now it seems I've been pushed anyway (awaiting confirmation, but all my accounts got suspended this afternoon). Ah well, now to try and get hold of a underwriting job!

sorry to hear that uni not going so well
