One of my friends @ uni managed to get 3 student accounts with Credit Cards. The only issue is that on ALL student accounts there terms state that "You should only have one student account and any loans/bursary should be paid into this account"
Saying that they have no way of confirming you receive any loans or bursary.
I would have remind you that you can still be declined for student accounts/credit cards and the best time to apply is just before the start of a new term as the credit scoring relaxes as ALL banks compete for students.

Thanks, I know there are stories of people doing it in the past, but now they seem to take overdrafts away. You are correct that the accounts say that, but the cards on their own don't (not that I can see anyway http://www.halifax.co.uk/creditcards/studentcard2.asp). When you click apply it takes you straight into an application

I have read that LTSB can be quite harsh on those with defaults, CCJ's

Yep I'll give it a go in a few months, got a pending current account application with them at the moment, and they rejected me for the full student account a while back (probably because I'd maxed out my Natwest overdraft) so I'll wait until the summer, want to apply to MBNA with no/few searches in last 6 months, and by waiting until the summer it's close to the start of a new term (well when the application spree normally seems to start)

Effect, Why are you soo determined to get this 1st direct account?

You best chance for acceptance is to wait until the 20 searches fall off your file and apply. DO NOT REQUEST O/D OR CREDIT CARD AS THIS WILL INCREASE THE REQUIRED SCORE FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.

What is your HSBC behaviour score as they may use this whilst accessing your application?

My internal score is 63 now. I'm actually not too bothered about First Direct, I'd just like to see if I get accepted. I'm going to university in September, so First Direct won't be the best of accounts, but then again, I wont be needing an overdraft for the first year at least...

How do people know their HSBC internal scores? By phoning up? Would Halifax give me mine or is it only HSBC that release them ?

I rang up to ask my internal credit score and was asked by someone rather rudely.. why I want to know this? I was then put on hold for ages.. so I hung up.. as I was calling off a mobile!! I still don't know what it is!
