Tesco is still processed and underwritten by RBS so it will pass to AVU (application verification unit) and they will have the final say so its not guaranteed until you get the card! I had the same and each time, I get a decline letter from AVU when I expect the agreement!

Hate em lol - Good Luck though, you may well have been accepted. kepp us posted please? :D

Thanks for letting me know. I'm keeping everything crossed! I thought it might have been a bit too good to be true - better than outright rejection though eh!

    I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for your recent letter.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to youl however, our investigations are taking longer than anticipated. We will issue a response by 29/01/10.

    Yours sincerely

Vice President (so I doubt she actually wrote the letter!)

+ a copy of the complaints procedure or whatever it is, I've had about 4 of them now!

What is that supposed to mean!? I said in my appeal about paying off the overdraft but I understood my credit report may not reflect this for a few months as Natwest take a while to report to CRAs, so are they waiting for Natwests update (which was the 15th of the month before according to one of my old reports, so 15th of each month I assume)? Or have they just got a Student Finance style backlog?

That doesn't sound good! It means they suspect you of serious illegal activities and gathering evidence so the police can arrest you. The police usually hand deliver the 5th letter.......

    Only kidding. :p

It's probably nothing. Give them a call and tell them you're appealing a credit card decision but you've received this letter and unsure of what it means exactly. It's odd they've used the word "investigations" though. If they needed to make further checks, they'd state that.

It could just be a standard letter to fob you off for a few weeks so they can put their feet up and drink posh coffee.

Once you're debt free, wait a month or two so your recent payments will be reflected on your credit report, then check your report with the three credit reference agencies so make sure there is no nasties at all on there and everything is updated.

It may also help to have at least one active credit card so your report will continue to get those needed green 0's.

Once you are satisfied that your credit report looks lovely and sparkling clean, just go ahead and apply. If you get declined then focus on building up some more of those precious green 0's. You have nothing to loose.
