I often use the disabled toilets in McD's or supermarkets if the kids are desperate or if I have all of them with me. It's a lot quicker, saves others queuing behind us, and you don't have to leave small children unattended in the main bit whilst you are in the cubicle with one of the others.

Presumably this would be after you've parked in the disabled parking space outside - that's quicker and saves queuing as well!

Um. And that's why many now require disabled only keys.

which i have and ive still gotten tuts from people waiting to use it after me and the kids. if i go then chops has to go, saves er asking to go 2 mins later.

im entitled to have the key and i get tuts from the wheelchair brigade.

sorry, to the OP, hope you get some help. too many time companies dont care about their patrons.

I'm not even going to point out the fact that most disabled toilets house the baby change facilities too these days so they clearly are NOT intended purely for the use of disabled people, even if they have a disabled sign on the outside. If there is not a disabled person waiting or using the toilet, I see no reason why others shouldn't use the facilities if they have a bonafide reason. (like a small child who is in a pram which won't actually fit in a small cubicle, or a toddler who needs the loo meaning 2 in a small cubicle otherwise, dangerous and impractical)

I wouldn't DREAM of preventing a disabled person from using a "normal" toilet if they were able to access it....so why the positive discrimination?

And the parking arguement is ridiculous. Waiting 2 minutes potentially for a toilet is perfectly acceptable (person 2 would have to wait if the person using the cubicle was also disabled) waiting for a parking space to come free could take hours if they are misused. The 2 things do not equate.

OP, I'm appaled that McD knew about the problem and haven't responded. I'd have been inclined to speak to the manager in store and call health and safety if necessary. You could still contact the H&S exec I believe, via the website.

    Hope this helps

Some do have keys yes, and I've asked for the radar key when I've got my toddler with me in a pram. I'm not going to leave the pram or the toddler out of my sight so how exactly would I use a normal cubicle?

Also the reason some have keys is to stop drug addicts using it as a private place to have a fix.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Haha. No I never, ever park in disabled parking spaces or ask for the key if the disabled loo needs a key. But I really don't see the big deal in using an empty 'disabled' toilet when you have 3 small children with you. As pointed out, they often have the baby changing facilities in there anyway.

Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean they cant wait for a toilet like the rest of us. The way i look at it is that the toilets are disabled facilities, not disabled only.
