    make pancake batter
add milk to soups such as leek+pot, cream of celery.
I keep 6 x 1pt milk cartons in the freezer for back up. defrost in bowl of cold water and give it a good shake to recoagulate.

It will probably be ok for some big bowls of porridge in the morning???

I don't take any notice of sell by/use by dates with milk, if kept in the fridge it will keep a lot longer than the use by date, I just sniff it every day, will probably be ok for a week or two. Or you could freeze it in smaller amounts, and then open a small bottle/tub etc each time you need it, let it defrost overnight, then that smaller bottle would last a week or so (if you didn't use it up!)

    Don't throw it away!

    Hi redmel,

This earlier thread should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the ideas together.

  • Hi there

My dads just dropped round a brand new 4pint bottle of semi skimmed milk as he is off on his hols and didn't want it to go to waste! I've just been to sainsbury's and bought 2 4pint bottles of pasturised (which is what we drink) I won't drink it all before it goes off so any suggestions?? is there anything I can make to freeze? I'm not sure if you can freeze milk but the bottle won't fit in anyway!!

    Thank u x

  • You can freeze milk, so you could decant into smaller containers if you have some and freeze it.

Or how about using it in some recipes, like lasagne, cauli cheese, quiche, egg & potato bake, bread pudding, etc and it will soon be gone.
