Help with lots of milk

you could always make a big batch of white sauce and then freeze it in smaller ready to use portions ideal for cauliflower/macaroni cheese, parsley sauce mustard sauce ect, it you normaly use skimmed milk it will be quite rich in a sauce so you can make it go even further by adding some water! it freezes well, just defrost overnight before using or in micorwave or saucepan, i have done this loads of times when i hae made too much sauce, hope this helps, janeMember 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4

You could dilute it with water making it much more like the consistency of skimmed milk, if you add the same amount of water you'll have the equivalent of 8 pints of milk for nothing....obviously giving you twice as much to use up but at least that will let you use it in your cereal / tea coffee!0

Hmmm... Cakes, scones, pancakes, custard, queen of puddings, bread & butter pudding, bread pudding, yoghurt, white sauce for fish/chicken pie, cauliflower cheese. Or as has been suggested, freeze any you can't immediately use.
I think you might need more than the 4 pints for the above though!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
We normally have a pint delivered every day but son has been staying at his new GF a lot (hes 19) & now I'm drowning in the stuff!
Can you lovely peeps comeup with some main meals (other than cauli cheese lol) to help me get through it all - I have about 6-7 pints now(darent look lol)
ps: cookon for just 2but might need to be able to stretch it to 3 - if DS gets hungry & comes home :rotfl:
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
How about lasagne? You need a fair bit for a cheese sauce.
Or you could make some pancakes? (or yorkshire puddings or toad in the hole as they need batter too).
And not a main meal, but you could make some scones0 -
Hi Psykicpup,
I've merged your thread with an older thread that should give you lots of ideas as it helps to keep all the suggestions together. If you have room in your freezer you can freeze milk for when you need it.

You could always give some away to a neighbour and maybe they`ll return the compliment when they have a glut of something...........?0

Hi
I am new to posting on this forum, but lurk here regularly and marvel at how organised you all are, and how unorganised I am. I off work ill at the moment with Whiplash, someone drove in the back of my car last week! I have been sitting around the house bored, and not able to do much. I am very disorganised, usually end up throwing away food every week, which is really naughty and wasteful, but down to lack of organisation I am afraid. So I thought that perhaps I could use the time to get more organised. I have to fed me, husband and 2 dear daughters (13 and 11)So I have been checking what I have got in my cupboards and realised that there seems to be loads, but I never manage to easily find a meal to make. Today I have got 8 pints of milk that I need to use before Wednesday, (we seem to have bought too much!) Anyone got any ideas of how I can use this and maybe freeze whatever I make to help me when I go back to work? Also any ideas of things that I could make a freeze would be great. I have got flour, eggs, milk, butter, cheese (Cheddar), mashed pototo mix, some mince and cod in freezer, plus some frozen peas & cauliflower, tuna in cupbards, plus usual seasonings, gravy etc. I also have some tinned fruit, pears, mandarin segments, and pineapple rings.0 -
Potato cheese, shepherds pie, fish pie, quiche.
But you do know that you can freeze milk? If it's not in cartons or plastic bottles then you'll have to transfer it, but apart from that it would be the easiest way of stopping it from going off.0
