going on holiday while seeking jsa

ok you can have a holiday, in skegness, and the value is taken off your JSA when you return. oh sugar, im not a job centre worker so i cant do that!
noticed they are always 1 or 2 post-wonders, fair game in my mind.
Here we go again.
Someone suggesting that because they do not have multiple stars or medals next to their name they cannot ask a reasonable question or make a sensible comment.
I would suggest that the "1 or 2 post wonders" may have some sort of a life other than using a so called money saving forum as a social networking site.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit by the way and if anyone cannot assist or offer constructive comments to people who are asking for assistance I would suggest they use Facebook or some other social networking site to spew their bile!0 -

If you don't like the forum, you know where the door is!
To be frank, after seeing some of the people come here worried to death for one reason or another and the acid response they often get from know it alls with nothing constructive or helpful to do here but massage their own egos....the report button is starting to interest me more.
This forum is to share problems and get advice or help...even to get something off your chest. No-one comes here to be belittled or abused by people who come here purely for that.
I have seen people post serious problems in this forum just this week, be offered genuine advice and sympathy..then along comes a sarky smartass troll and the OP vanishes wishing they hadn't bothered and worse off than before.
I see that happen one more time I will let the person on the other end of the report post button decide how to deal with that.
We all should.

Please don't humour me DonnaJ, you totally do not understand my point...
I'm just sick to death of people claiming that those on JSA only get £60 a week when in actual fact that is their spending money to pay bills...most workers include their rent/mortgage into the equation when costing up their outgoings so why are you excluding this....it might not matter to you especially when you do not pay it yourself but it does to me!
I might have to move house if I cannot afford to pay where I am currently (for example) whereas somebody who gets their rent paid for will not!
£60 per week is quite a lot of money for one person, what would they have to pay for? I certainly do not spend £240 a month on utilities and food....I certainly don't buy clothes every month...
oMg you're not with the plan are you?
64 quid a week
Assuming lecky is 10 and gas is same...that leaves 44
Phone/internet takes another 10 or so (applying for jobs without a phone ..you may as well be on the moon as they can't contact you , and as you crowed on about - that could be immediate)
34 now to pay for all your food, travel ( a return trip to town 2 miles away on a bus costs me 3 quid) , stamps, paper, clothes and repairs to anythign that breaks...and totally ignoring any debts and things like TV licences etc
Also assuming no pets and no car.
You seem to have the impression (and spread it) that people who lose a job suddenly find themselves living in clover with no worries...when in fact it's all but impossible to survive.
You lost a job and got another quickly...well whoopee for you ....YEARS AGO.
That doesn't happen now. A guy at the local JC told me one day when he looked really down and upset that a man just signed on in tears after THOUSANDS of applications and only ONE ever replied. That guys sees it every day as he signs people on daily, and he knows the truth better than any of us.
There are people who don't want a job, that's for sure too. They maybe have crime or illicit work going on...who knows. Same goes for some people claining to be ill and unable to work.
It is extremely unfair to tar all people with that brush after a heavy session with the Daily Mail. ..even if you do enjoy it so much.
Some people go to bed in tears because of unemployment and the hell it brings.
Some of those tears you helped put there...proud of that are you?

...and I would add various other costs to the ones you mentioned:
- insurance
- household maintenance
- replacement/repair of essential items
- the miscellaneous bits of money that get used because of unexpected emergencies (which can go all the way from having accidentally ruined some small necessary item and having to find the money to replace it unexpectedly - up to some close family member/friend is very ill at the other end of the country and you have to pay travel costs to go and see them, etc, etc).
Quite apart from the sheer money angle - there can surely be few people on the Dole who arent having to "humble themselves" and ask on a regular basis for jobs they wouldnt consider doing normally (too low-level and/or too poorly paid, etc, etc) and having to "swallow their anger and pride" and ask for jobs like that - because there simply isnt enough of the type/pay level of job they expect to have to be able to restrict themselves only to the ones they expect to have. One heck of a downer of itself - and enough on its own to reduce many to tears. To then have that compounded by even getting refused that lower level of job must be a "bitter pill indeed to try to swallow".0 -

You aren't doing so bad at passing on the insults yourself are you
To clarify, yes, I was made redundant a couple of years ago and I did find another job...after months and months of hard searching and applying for lots and lots of other jobs first...I've never known of jobs falling into your lap as easy as you think mine did...I've been there wondering if that interview was successful and not hearing a dickie bird...or even not hearing anything at all...no interview...not much has changed really, all the jobs I was applying for had a high rate of applicants, believe me!
And as for your summary of costs...please don't go on as if you are the master...I have lived on my own long enough to know what the costs are thank you
Just for the record...personal debts aren't considered and you won't get any sympathy for those...
It may cost you £10 PER MONTH for broadband, some people only have electric if living in a flat, clothes aren't necessarily a monthly cost nevermind weekly...but like I said, for one person it isn't bad considering they probably live with others who work or are on benefits. There are other things they can get for an emergency I believe...and many will get their council tax paid and rent...or mortgage interest...
Nobody ever said it was supposed to be a comfortable lifestyle to be on JSA...buy hey, better than nothing.0
