Yes - TotallyI 'cancelled' SKY two days after they 'installed' my dish. That was about ten years ago when, despite promises by the salesman to the contrary, they 'stapled' cables on top of my new solid wood skirting, around the doors and, generally made a mess of my house. It took over a month for them to come and 'de-install' their handiwork, leaving me with holes all over the place and, subsequently, anti SKY.
We already had a satellite dish, for the Italian TV, and I had asked for, and was promised, a dual 'dnb' and receiver. I was not at home when they installed the second dish - otherwise they would not have done it - and the 'excuse' given to me, was that I was, in fact, getting a better deal that way.
I was always against SKY in principle, from the early days, when I had my first satellite dish. We could, then, receive lots of channels, including one called 'SKY'. On it we could watch innovative programmes like 'The Simpsons' and 'WWF'. As the station grew, it started to set up 'new' channels, based on the more popular themes, and it was not long before both the Simpsons and WWF became 'channels' in their own right, before 'developing' into the 'multi-!!!!' industry that is SKY today.
I have my 'Freeview' box, as well as my Eutelsat, and, to be honest, that is enough for me - and my family.
I do, however, feel a bit sorry for the over-enthusiastic 'salesman' who collared me in the local shopping centre last month. I suppose he had no way of knowing exactly what response his seemingly innocent question 'Have you thought about SKY recently?' would prompt from a miserable old s0d like me.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I think it's merely the fact that I disagree with their view on the lawfullness vs moral point of view of CCAs etc that they object toBut yes if any post contravenes the MSE board rules then regardless of who posted it it should be reported to Abuse

I think its just the standard SOA response on here, people get told to cancel the Sky, Gym and give up their mobile phone contracts, go to eating Smart Price beans and not have a haircut and colour...
We all know that these are things we could do to reduce the debt, but I find that if you just stop living, stop spending money on things that aren't an absolute necessity it just makes you even more likely to go and blow a grand on a credit card because you are starved of any kind of release.
We have Sky, we spend nearly £40 a month on it, and to be honest, i wouldn't have it any other way. We used to go out regulary because we were bored, which meant not only did we go out, but we also ate out, and thats how we helped ourselves get further into debt.
We spend every week night in the house nowadays, don't eat out, lounge infront of the tele instead watching Come Dine With Me and all the other rubbish we Sky+ throughout the week. This has saved us a fortune. We could have scrapped the Sky and continued spending most midweek nights in some pub, resturant etc but we made the MONEY SAVING decision to spend more time at home, and Sky was just a part of that. We have Sky Sports, so watch the footie from the comfort of our sofa's on a Sunday instead of going down the pub and spending one months Sky bill in the space of an afternoon.
I do think that sometimes people are just quick to churn out the standard responses without taking into account peoples personal circumstances and needs.0
