Yes - Totallynever-in-doubt wrote: »LOL, you miss my point.... you should be more open minded. Maybe you're right, I assumed the role of BG was to offer help and support to people or maybe Fermi is just an exception (he is as bad as me with unenforceability)....
Actually Fermi was on here long before becoming a BGAnd I used to spend nearly all my time here offering advice before I became very disillusioned with the amount of people who could afford their debt but didn't want to pay it back...
And weren't you not long lecturing on assuming?tut!
BGs are nothing more than a poster other than we are here to help the boards run smoothly. If we were here to offer advise as part of our role then that would mean our oppinions were those of MSE which they 100% are not (which is why it's pointed out in our signatures).
I'll thank you to know I'm VERY openminded - I do however have views and my own set of moral values. They obviously differ from yours - that doesn't mean mine are right and yours are wrong - it means to me yours are wrong, and to you mine are wrongThere will be as many right and wrongs as there are people on this planet

Yes - Totallyjust going to add my twopennorth without reading the whole thread.
In our previous house we had cable with all the possible options costing £50 per month (4+ years ago).
We moved into rented briefly (relocation) and just had 4 channels (5 signal too poor here). The kids squealed but got used to it. Then we bought here and decided to just get freeview. Do we miss Sports and Movies? Nah.
95% of what we watched on cable is on freeview. A small price to pay to save £500+ per year.0 -
Yes - TotallyLandy Andy... can you come explain that to my husband?
I can easily live without Sky but apparently it's a necessity for him!
ok so we can afford it as well as repaying our debts but I KNOW him and know he'd be grudging about loosing that if things got tight
Me? It would be the first thing gone :rotfl:

Its personal choice really.....
Yes of course it's personal choice IF you have the £100 per month to spare, you can choose how to spend it.
Generally those who are being told "get rid of Sky" are those who DON'T have the money to spend on it.... for them it's not a choice between Sky or another luxury, it's a choice between Sky and food, heating or rent.0 -
We used to have cable, then moved house were we couldn't get virgin, so were going to get sky once we were settled.
Well 6 months later never happened, got a free freeview box from a friend, and honestly you get used to it.
I hear what wizzy things people can now do, such as it auto recording programmes for you etc etc.
I watch a lot of films on film 4 and am no longer tempted to buy films at a click of a button (as I can't).
My dad still only has 4 channels...now that is going too far!!0 -
Yes - Totallyredsquirrel80 wrote: »You can watch TV on your PC without a licence as long as you aren't watching it at the time of broadcast - so watching iPlayer etc after the programme's been on TV is fine.
iplayer is on PS3 as well now :T:cool:0 -
