I would like to get a range of opinions on something so thought I would ask you lot.
I would love to take my 4 kids to Majorca this summer but I am absolutely terrified of flying and foreign travel in general. On the other hand, it's something I've always wanted to do.
Dare I book something with the risk that when it comes to it I may not be able to go through with it? What do you guys think?
Hmmmmm....
Hope everyone is well
Go for it!
If you don't book it you'll never go.
Once you've booked it then look into how you can get through the flight.
I use the sleeping pills method although I understand it is not recommended.
Good luck! xxxLife is all about the journey.0 -
PDD: Have you thought about hypnosis or anything? Seems a shame to miss out
Katie: Good luck at the docs x
wokkies: Thanks *blush*

The mere fact that you are all unanimous in saying that I should just go for it really boosts my confidence
I really don't know what I am afraid of because I'm not really frightened of plane crashes or anything like that. I think I'm mostly scared of scaring myself to the point of death on the flight which is impossible really isn't it? Grrrrrr, I drive myself mad sometimes. Stupid panic disorder!
My New Year's resolutions were to travel abroad and learn to drive and I really want to achieve both. I figured Majorca would be a good start because it's a short flight, plenty to do, quite Englishy etc. For some reason I'm scared of taking the kids out of the country but I think that's probably quite irrational.
I'm well into my 30s now and I'm starting to think that if I don't take a leap of faith soon I never will.
Anyway, emotional outpour overThanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

I took driving lessons 9 years ago, best thing i ever done! spent a year doing 1 lesson a week and plodding along but passed first time! Wouldn't ever be without my car now, opens up a whole new world of just getting up and going, me and ev have had some fun hols driving to various resorts across the uk xxx
Flying, u don't want to pass ur fear on to ur kids, kids see it as an adventure, we have flown loads over the years, took ev across europe when he was a babe , so he is really used to it, though i still admit to clucthing his hand very tightly on take off and landing and saying a prayer in my head xxxx
We had some mad adventures in italy last year and learnt alot very fast as we were in a hotel in the middle of nowhere! xxx
It's fun, and generally only a few hours from home xxxxxxx:)#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
pdd, I'm utterly utterly petrified of flying. so much so I usually have to have a drink before I get on the plane and cant sit by the window and need a constant distraction the entire flight. but I forced myself to try and get over it last September when I went to Barcelona with the OH for a treat and because.. shock horror! we're going long haul to New York in May. Im not afraid to say I'm dreading the flight but it'll all be worth it in the end I hope

Thanks guys
Unfortunately my kids are already scared of flying because of me, hence my motivation to get them on a plane
I worry that I wouldn't be able to cope with the kids and the flight at the same time but I do have a very rational hubby who is not scared of flying. It's so dumb, my irrational side thinks if I get on the plane, I will die. Stupid, I know. I'm so sick of not doing things because of my phobias, it really is ruining my life. I went to speak to the doctor about it and he gave me antidepressants which I was too scared to take :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small
