Further to this, they also sell the Gopal 350 for £235 with TMC already included. Only UK and Ireland maps, though, but would appear to be a great deal considering what Navman appear to be charging for adding TMC?

Only £170 here (which is what Navman want to charge you extra for the TMC receiver!)

hi thanks for the easydevices link, thinking of buying one of these.... shame its not in stock as the price might go up.... but was wondering how the connections work for tmc... does it need to go through your fm aerial? is there any info on this anywhere? thanks0

Just phoned them (geographical number is 0131-4782674, we can't be paying those 0870 charges, can we?) and the expected date of arrival is 15/7/06 so a 3 week wait. £65 cheaper than the exact same model direct from Medion and the whole unit (INCLUDING TMC) costs the same as the TMC add-on for the £240 Navman unit. Bit of a no-brainer to me. I'll wait....I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

Can get the TMC for that navman for £130. I know its still pricey, but the reception on the unit itself is meant to be excellent. Thats the reason for me trading up...Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Beware, I don't think any of the Medion's offer full 7 digit postcode search. Not on their website but think I've seen it elsewhere. Yes you can get street names up but a postcode is a darn sight easier.
Plus it's much more difficult, if not impossible, to add POI's, voices etc etc that you can do to more flexible satnavs such as those by Garmin or TomTom.
However if it's just simple satnav you want then these could be good. The T3 review of the Medion is pretty good but not exactly in-depth. They need some better reviews to give us a true idea of their worth.0 -

Note the last paragraph:
On sale at just under £300 it's not cheap, that was the price for a TomTom Go 300 6 months ago, but now you can get the new TomTom One for under £230 and that leaves the Medions key selling point looking a little wanting. So unless the Medion GoPal gets under the £200 mark it really can't warrant our recommendation.
Now you can get it for £170. Recommendation pending?I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
