  • Dear MSE Users

Firstly an apology. Our servers went down, despite testing and having assurances from our hosting company that they would not, at 12:00 midday today. For this we are extremely sorry and are aware that many of you have been sitting in front of your computers for some 45 minutes now, attempting to enter your details. Whilst we are not trying to justify the problems, over 100,000 people attempted to hit the site simultaneously.

The servers are now back up and running, however we appreciate the frustration that this will have caused for you.

Whilst we cannot change what has already happened, what we are going to do it the following:

    1) Provide the first 2,000 entrants with free memberships to tastelondon for 12 months
    2) Run a 'lottery' for a further 2,000 free 12 month memberships
    3) Provide every other entrant with complimentary 3 month memberships to tastelondon, which will expire on 1st March 2010.

So please do continue to enter your details, everyone will win something.

We are sorry again for the inconvenience and hope this goes some way to rectifying them

    The taste team.

I don't think an apology or a lottery is enough.... you should give free annual cards to all those who registered. I understand it's a lot but let's face facts...most of us spent at least an hour trying to register. I filled my details at 12:00:08 so that surely puts me within the first 2000...I hope...

come of it it was a free offer that lots of people took/are taking advantage of

    dont be silly
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

I agree. I mean they made you sit there trying to get something free, didn't they? It's a disgrace , they should be giving us all lifetime passes and red carpet treatment wherever we go...

Wow... Some people here need to cool it. Anything you get out of this is a freebie. None of you are at a financial loss here - in fact, everyone WILL gain something, it's just the scale of the gain that you're moaning about. Something for nothing is good enough in my book!
  • Analogy. You see a sign saying 'Join this queue and the first 10 people to get to the front get £10'. If more than 10 people join that queue, you think they should extend that offer to everybody who eventually joins said queue.
  • When I won mine back in August I managed to submit my details before 12.01 and I got the confirmation email quickly. I was lucky and didn't experience any crashing as others did. This time I had lots of problems having to refresh so I left it about 12.20. I came back here and noticed that some people said the site was back up so I tried again for my friend. It went through, but this was about 12.45 so I think it's very unlikely, but yes, you're right, you never know!

    Thanks laughing cow!
You lucky !!!!!!! i entered it as soon as it was 12.01 and it crashed on me lol :( however i shall have hope and what the heck its a freebie....

 There shouldn't be a queue. If they made the doors bigger everyone could get in!

Oh please....just get a life and accept that this is a free promotion that gets a huge hit of traffic. They have been fair in their response and still you want more.

I've had a Taste London card and it's very useful, just hope I get one for my wife this time around. They do this promotion in good faith and, before anyone says it, they are not harvesting e-mail addresses to sell on.

Some people....it's just so dis-heartening the grabby mentality displayed by some forum members.
  • So instead of charging £70 for their card, you think it would be best for everybody if it was free permanently?
