Update Thurs 26 Nov. The 2,000 free tastelondon 1yr memberships have all gone. But you can still enter your details before 9am Fri 27 to get a free three-month tastelondon card and a chance to win one of 2,000 extra free 1yr memberships.

The tastelondon website got pummeled when everyone logged on at 12pm, so some folks weren’t able to enter. Tastelondon have apologised and are giving away three-month memberships to all; originally, they were going to be one-month. A representative is also answering questions at the end of this thread, with our permission.

We’ve blagged 2,000 free, year-long memberships for MoneySavers for tastelondon. It's a discount card scheme that saves you 50% at more than 1,000 South East England restaurants and normally costs up to £70/yr (though special offers mean you can usually grab it for less than this).

The weekly e-mail takes 18 hours to send, so to make sure the first to receive it don’t snap up all the memberships, this offer will be available from 12 noon Thursday 26 November.

If this can be preserved for people who regularly eat out in the South East, that would be brilliant. Please don't apply just for a one-off trip; save it for those who will get the most use. The cards will have your name printed on them and are non-transferable, so cannot be sold on eBay.

The first 2,000 applicants will get the memberships and they're likely to go at superspeed, so be quick. After they’ve all gone, anyone who enters their details will get a one month trial membership instead (it will say clearly which one you’re getting).

The advantage of the card over normal deals is you cab book with a large list of the restaurants, which include many non-chain places, as well as bigger groups like Pizza Express, GBK and Strada.

Always call to book before your meal, mentioning tastelondon. It's also worth presenting the card again when you order.

What about those of us who work for a living during the day - and I don't mean all day in a cosy office with internet access, I mean those of us who are out and about and can't access the net at 12 o'clock?

Why can't some of these offers be on at 7pm in the evening say? Then I might have a chance of getting one!

Time and time again I and no doubt others miss out on these offers - PLEASE do some evening ones!!!!

Though I work in a cosy office with internet access I have to agree with davesanae that these types of promotions should be run later. Let me tell you that the reason they usually aren't is because the staff running the promotions don't want to be working late!

Wow, I'm kinda surprised tastelondon decided to run this again after last year's saga, when everyone was up in arms cos the website crashed and one man threatened to sue them cos he didn't win a card...

Well good luck everyone, I won one last year and use it constantly, it's me enabled to eat at a number of great restaurants which I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise :-)

Their server/s usually fail when these promotions are run, so your actually saving a lot on time and annoyance by missing it.

It works both ways... I work in the evenings so wouldn't be able to try if it was at 7pm..

I don't think there is a 'fair' time for the offers - you can't please everyone!

And at least at noon they might have the IT techs on hand to fix the servers :rotfl:

What parts of london does this card cover? Does it cover just the person with the card or can you take people with you to share the deal???

It varies from restaurant to restaurant...some eg Pizza Express it is max of four people per card (but that depends on the restaurant - as I have been in a group of 8 and they have taken just one card no probs).

Some restaurants do not have limits on number of people per card.

It does cover all of london but there are more restarants in central than far out.

Best thing to do is to go on the site and do a quick search to see the restaurants that you may use it for.

I think it is awesome and getting it free is even better!
