  • Hi Chris

I've just had a read through this thread and it seems like a brilliant idea so I'd like to join in as well please!

My debt is currently around the 18.5k mark so to get that under 10k would be fantastic.

I'm not sure exactly how i'm going to do it but I have raised a fair bit of cash through matched betting before so no doubt that will figure heavily in my plans!

The idea of a weekly update where we can all motivate each other and share ideas sounds great, it's all to easy to set yourself a long term goal like this and then fall by the wayside.....

  • Sounds like a cool plan, I got into 20 grand worth of debt and sat 4 years of my twenties doing nothing as I was strangled by outgoings, barely enough to live let alone go out and do fun stuff... It can get you down a bit, but if you stick at it you will reap the benefits later.

    Chris,

I graduated in 2002 from Leicester. It was a great time and I really don't think I'd change a thing, getting into debt from it and it just continuing to spiral is a bit of a regret, but I had a blimmin great time!!

So how do you stay positive about going to the gym Chris? As i've said a few times on here, my weight has gone a bit crazy due to feeling !!!! about debt, so I eat, then i get fat so i spend etc etc. Saying that I'm not a miserable massive beast!! I've been a member at the local council gym for a while, it's just over £15 a month and that includes all classes, racket sports, the gym and swimming! Bargain I reckon. I'd love to go more but am so unfit that when I do go I know that everyone's gonna be looking and laughing! I'll be like a ribena berry. But wearing leggings! hehehe. So any motivational tips to get my ever expanding (but nicely rounded!) !!! down there would be much appreciated!!

As for the 10k challenge, put me down for it. *deep breath*. Gotta give it a go although in reality I have no idea how I will do it!! Am starting a mobile nail type thing in march time (once i'm qualified) so that I can do it in the evenings/weekends to try and earn some extra dollars. Hopefully that'll help.

  • Hope your all having a fab night now that its the weekend.

Siannie, im sorry about your split up but as chris said onwards and upwards, at least being single you can concerntrate on your debts and really blitz them. Have fun working this weekend, despite the long hours stood up and running around I used to love barwork/waitressing, you can always have a giggle with the regulars. Although watch out for male escort look-a-likes with complicated cocktail orders! :rotfl:

Chris, I bet it was a tough decision to get rid of your motor but just think how much of your debt will be wiped out with the profit and the petrol saving each month. I wish I could be as dedicated as you to the gym, im from the Bazwod camp, I need a boot up my expanding butt. I wish I had a council gym by me for £15! thats a right bargain, mine costs £46 and all the poncy yummy mummys take their offspring there and I have to share the pool with badly behaved seven year olds! (can you tell im usually grumpy after work, and children don't really feature in my destress time?) Oh well its the only bit of luxury Im allowing myself 'til my debts are gone so im going to make the most of it.

I agree that weekly updates will keep us motivated and give each other ideas on how to rake in that dosh.

Right well im off to scheme some more ways to make money and think about how im going to treat my patient and understanding OH once I reach my DFD *toddles off dreaming of white sands and cocktails*

    Have a good weekend everyone

Sally - at least you go to the gym!! Good on you, but more motivation won't hurt eh?! As for sharing a pool with the seven year olds, hopefully they won't be weeing in it ;) It still freaks me out when I see a funny look on one of their faces as I'm swimming around! Must remember to spread the rumour about the purple dye in the pool if you pee!!

I'm about ready for bed!! Busy week and emotionally satisfying knowing that I'm going to get on top of this debt malarkey once and for all. Wowoo wooo!! x x

  • Ahhh.....I go away for one weekend and come back to certain ladies of the board lowering the tone of the place by talking about peeing in pools :p:rotfl:............surely its the phantom 'floaters' you should be worried about!!! lol

Haremscarem - Thanks for the support :D Your right it really gets you down at a time when you should be having fun - but I just want rid of it now and to get some control back in my life ......and then I can go and enjoy myself properly when its cleared!!! :D (within budget of course!! ;))

Bazwod - Morning :) welcome to the challenge! thanks for your reply :D

Yeah you graduated same year as me, I graduated from Herts Uni though. Hehe think im going to be running a sub category in here at this rate, 'loose 10kg in 2010!' lol! :p hehe ;)

From the fact you put put your gonna be wearing red leggings im hoping your a female? lol - so i can gear any motivational talk or fitness advise towards that lol - Ill defo help you where I can, no probs :)

Thats a great idea - that sort of 'nail bar' work is great cos you can work all the hours you want to earn extra cash :D.....................dont think I could get away with doing that myself though :p lol - back to the drawing board for me :rotfl:

    When do you qualify?

Yeah you can have a handycap and start early lol - you have my permission! ;) lol!

sallymander - Yeah Bazwod is so lucky - £15 quid is a bargain!!!

Still at least in your 'luxury' pool you get an obsticle course added in for free what with all the kids in the way!! maybe barge a few out the way and throw a few of them to add to the workout! lol :D

Right best do some work now ;) ....................
