And Sally you're a police person too? They're really must be something in it then. Maybe we should demand more pay.... JOKING ALL!! Either way, we're lucky to think that our jobs are recesssion proof although our 'company' has got massive budget cuts to make this year. Scary stuff, as it is for everyone I guess.

Posted this earlier, but not sure i posted it in the right place, this is my first post.
Im hoping someone may be able to give us some help on this problem please.
We have two outstanding loans, one for £11,000 and the other for £7,000. The first one, we have had for about a year, the other one for about 6 months. When we took them out, we took them over the smallest period we could afford to get them paid quicker. We are now paying £720 p/m for these two loans. Although we can afford these payments and are not struggling to pay them, my husband is in the forces and we are hoping to buy a house next year and settle in one area, but cannot afford a mortgage ontop of this £720 we already pay!! We have been to our bank to try to combine the two loans and extend over a longer period but they turned us down due to our credit score. That was about 3 months ago and since then we have had credit expert and our score is now in the good zone, so we applied with Sainsburys today for a loan of £18,000 over 6 years to take the payments down and were turned down again, they wouldnt tell us why. The problem now is, that i dont want to keep applying to different companies and it having an adverse impact on our recently acquired credit score, but without extending the loans we cant afford a mortgage. I dont know what to do. Hope someone can help are there any companies with easier criteria?0 -
Hi
Old lurker, but only just joined as such.....
am going for this - have got a £20k loan so to pay 1/2 it off in 1 year would be brilliant as wife wants to stop working.:rotfl:
looking forward to tomorrow to see if there is any money coming back from the bank charges - does that count towards the £10k???
ideas to help people - try doing online comps - I have made £3k in 2 years so hope my luck gets better but its money saved (as have won year supply of washing powder recently)

Hey I was already planning to do this, but its a hell of a lot easier with the backing of all you lot! I have been a fan of MSE before I turned the big 18! So I have only got £100 on a CC and my car on finance. So wouldn't like to think where I would be without all this advice! But anyway enough waffling I would like to have 10k to put towards a deposit for a house by 2010.
Now I do have a bit of a head start as my mum has a policy maturing in August 2010 so thats 3k, but instead of it sitting all lonely in the bank I would love it to be that little boost when things are getting tough and dark and cold and miserable!!
So lets do this!0 -
