YI'm very pleased about the December amount, we tried really hard to economise on presents and everybody seems really pleased with what we got them, plus we have money left! The £10 a day challenge I've been doing for the last few months has really started to impact positively on our accounts. :D

Can you put in a link to the £10 a day challenge please? Am doing the £1 challenge but think i could manage doing this one too. :)

Thanks everyone, I'm not agrivated by what she said at all, I admit to being irritated at her mannor but I always find that the more people tell me I'll never manage it the more deturmined I get.

Last year I decided to lose 3 stone and learn static trapeze as a NY resolution... Everyone looked at me like I was mad... I managed the 3 stone and had December off dieting to enjoy myself. I also did 3 months of evening classes in trapeze! One of the reason I'm so desperate to pay off some debt is so I can take more lessons :)
  • Wow amatheya I want some of your determination :D!!!

Evening all, I have been steadily reading this thread for the last couple of evenings, and I am very keen to join.

I am a long term reader, infrequent poster, but I think my input initially would be I think it would be good to actually collect a list of the most standard MSE ideas, mainly for those who are quite new members.

Daily clicks, matched betting, surveys, mystery shopping, ebay etc, and for those that use such things to explain how best to approach it.

    All the best everyone,

Saved £20 today as my ex-childminder refused point blank to take any money off me for looking after my DD today, it was an inset day. I was pretty annoyed, but also grateful to her, she is such a wonderful woman :A .

Booked travel to friend's 30th in feb, almost got national express for £10 with cashback but then found it for £6.50 on megabus instead so did that instead! :D I normally book a bit closer to the time and pay about £20, so will say have saved £10. :j

OH is doing really well too, he has trip away same weekend, was £44 by train (with railcard!), got it for £12 on national express, plus cashback via topcashback. I won't count his saving, but will count the 61p we will get in return! ;)

    Total to add today: £33.61.:T
I plan to transfer these amounts to savings as we go along so that we can see the impact of our small decisions, and separate them from 'general savings'.

  • Reading this is making me more determined NOT to withdraw money from my bank until friday, and make do with the £2 ish I have in my purse until then. I can take home made lunches for the rest of the week and may leave my weekly mag purchase 'til the weekend. :A

My totals will be updated on the last day of the month (payday) as that's when I transfer my savings so will post my new total to make it easier to keep track of at the end of Jan/first of Feb.

I will also add my extra money (ebay, quidco, MSing) as and when and update my sig.

I am waiting very patiently for money to hit my account so I can transfer it to savings! I have about £70 due at least this month which is fab so far.:j
  • Ooooh Ametheya81, can we be aggreived on your behalf? What a mean-spirited woman. We should all set ourselves ridiculous goals and push ourselves to acheive them, otherwise who knows what we are capable of.

I may not make it to £10k this year (and it's not looking bloomin' likely, lol) but it's better to fail and only save £8k than not to bother at all. I always say that we only fail when we cease to try! (Steps down from soap box and takes a deep breath).

I shall be posting my total at the end of the month, waiting to see how much is left after dental work and a maintainence hungry car, but I'm reading daily, so keep up the good work everybody xxx

ohhh Amathea, she sounds an awful lot like a girl in my office! She says things like that all the time, I assume without realizing how rude it is - she absolutely grills anyone with a (minor) health problem or injury on how they got it so she can work out how its their fault! I bet she would have the same reaction if I told her about the saving...

I haven't told people about the full extent of the challenge (mostly because I earn significantly more than anyone else my age in the company and I dont want to rub it in!) but I have told them I need to pay off the rest of my MSc debt and so far people have been supportive. We shall see...
