Friday was payday and I've paid off my HSBC overdraft (£520), my Argos card (£149.98) and another £200 to the in-laws.

Unfortunately it has been tainted somewhat by the realisation that my bonus will not be going towards paying for my holiday but instead will be used to pay car tax, car insurance, home insurance, a long weekend away in Cornwall that we've just got back from, DS1's birthday and OH's birthday as well as the overdraft mentioned above.

Can't even use my savings to pay for the holiday as originally planned because we lost all hot water at home last week and the repairs have come to £833

So when I thought I'd be able to make a big CC payment to MBNA this month, I'll probably end up with more debt than what I started with :(

Oh well, these things are sent to try us I suppose and I'm trying to look on the bright side that 2 more debts have gone and 2 more will be £525 lighter by the time we get into May. And I'll be able to buy my car and home insurance outright this year so that's 2 less DDs going out of my account each month.

    Need to stay positive :)

You have my sympathies... It can be hard to stay positive when things like this happen. But the fact you're buying insurance outright is fantastic! :T That's one of the things that pleases me... I start saving for my car payments a few months before as it really is a load of your mind not to pay by DD.

Peetzil... these things cant be helped.
I am cross as I have let my CC build up a little have quickly switched it to a 0% ( I know I should use my savings but I really can't bring myself to do it.) I don't count the payments I make towards this, only my savings count for me on this challenge.

Well a smaller payment (yet again) than I thought. Overspent last month and have yet more Wedding/weekend away expenses this month. Have just been paid so have worked out my budget and swiftly put my savings into my ISA.

so £320 for me in April. Mainly wages plus a MS and a quidco payment. (I count it now as it has technically been paid today)

Must ebay next month. Will have a £50 aim.

Good luck to all with savings and debt payments.:T

Well, April turned out to be a tough month. I managed to secure a 4.9% life of balance rate from Halifax and so moved the balances from two other cards to that one. It'll save me over £50 a month in interest going forward but it did cost me £156 in balance transfer fees . I also had to shell out £230 for my best mates stag do which is in the summer.

All that meant I only paid off a total of £125 this month to make my total £5,173 in 2010.

Hope everyone else is still doing well.

Got paid yesterday - put £750 towards the debt pot. Not sure how much more I'll be able to pay this month - dentist bills are throwing me for a loop.

If I can just keep up this rate I should be debt free at the begining of September. Thats amazing and well ahead of schedule, lets hope I can get through the rest of the summer without dipping in to it!

Another £200 to Barclaycard today. Just off to update the sig.

Had an offer from Virgin today - purchases over £250 are 0% until Feb 11. So going to put the rest of my holiday balance on that and have worked out I can still clear the balance by the time the 0% runs out. Hoping to also make an extra payment to MBNA so long as I can get to pay day in credit :)
