    Wrong on every count !!

You are effectively using a legal loophole to reclaim your charges - that doesn't mean it's right, just that you are getting away with it. Hundreds if not thousands of criminals get away with things every year on technicalities just like you.

I have been in a situation where I incurred bank charges - it was 20 years ago and I learnt from my experience and haven't incurred any since, despite being in serious financial difficulty, it's not luck but being careful.

I also went to work for a bank in 1988 and remained in the banking world until 2000 so have seen thousands and thousands of people who have incurred charges so am actually considerably more experienced in this matter than you.

So well done - the mindless ignorance of the few has once again ruined it for the majority.

Oh dear, no debts to collect today T_Roll?
If you havent got anything nice to say dont say anything at all.

If the banks are so sure of thier footing, then why do they not even bother to get one of thier inhouse lawyers to defend against us criminals?

For gods sake these arguments have been done to death and I for one have had a bellyfull. going to do something more productive.

there for the grace of god, adn all that.

What are you talking about? Try reading the other posts before you make a statement like that. I never said that I waited an hour, I said that I registered but have waiting for the email activation to arrive so I could get started and it hadn't arrived over 12 hours later.

I work as a web designer so I know that if an activation email hasn't been sent out then there is a problem, I also never said that I didn't have the patience to wait, I was saying that the average joe public will not have the patience to wait. I actually doubt that many people will think they will get their money back, so if they can't get into the site, their interest will stop their.

No need for that tone Nick, he said that HE waited an hour last night, not you. Stebiz is correct, you have to wait and wait and wait in this process.

I never said you did wait an hour. I said I waited an hour. All I'm saying is if the average joe public have no patience to wait - then pursuing their bank to reclaim charges is not for them. It won't happen over night.

  • I think we are underestimating the program last night, most people will be patient as the rewards at the end far outweigh the waiting period.

It isn't quick but it is wothwhile.

    Good luck to everyone claiming

I agree and I hope that is true. If they follow the guidelines they can't go far wrong. Broadening this discussion further it would be interesting to see the banks next step. If I am to understand the law the next step for 'the bank' is to make an example of someone and appeal to the high court. It is only at a higher court that a precedent can be made.

    Ok, accept my apologies.

However, I never said I didn't have the patience, I was merely stating in my professional opinion, an average user will not wait for a website to sort itself out, regardless if it is funded or not. Those on this site have sympathy, but other people will not, and how many viewers did it get last night? Millions probably.

The tragedy of it is, that the impact of last night's show may not have the effect it deserves because people can't get on the site.

Those here in this thread and on this forum will say you have to be patient, but others wont wait, that is the stark reality that faces us web designers every day. Now this may shock you guys but studies show that a website has less than a second to make an impact.

Now all the people that I have spoke too about this bank charges reclaim process are quite negative about it, and don't believe that they will get their money back. Its really tough to feel positive when you have been in the gutter, so negative effects tend to hit harder than a positive one.

The positive one being the tv program, the negative one being the website not working.

So can you imagine how many people will have been lost last night from this charge on the banks?

Ok, show me. Show me in what way it's a loophole. No, really, PLEASE try. I'm always up for a laugh.

Well, LUCKY you. 20 years ago, banks didn't charge £39 per charge per day for going over by 10p. So whatever charges you incurred then would not have had the devastating effect they have now.
I also went to work for a bank in 1988 and remained in the banking world until 2000 so have seen thousands and thousands of people who have incurred charges so am actually considerably more experienced in this matter than you.

No. You were experienced -allegedly- in CHARGING people, in doing your job. I used to organise medical repatriations for people who had suffered injuries or illnesses. That did not make me an expert on their suffering.

Oh, I don't know about mindless ignorance, seems to me we actually know an awful lot, not least of all when to stop being a sheep. :D And it feels GREAT!!!!

I'm not even claiming myself anymore, I'm helping, hundreds, nay, thousands reclaiming what's theirs. And I LOVE it.

Well said. For those who believe this is a legal loophole don't businesses use these all the time. How about offshore companies - not paying tax?? Banks employing accountants to minimize taxes and dividend payments?? Directors taking little or no pay - but having huge share options. REAL WORLD.
