I am a bit concerned at the mo. My email address got hijacked on Monday, we were alerted because they emailed my OH to advertise something. Had an email from a friend today thanking me for getting in touch, so I think they may have emailed all my contacts. The thing is...I logged off my computer and shut it down around 6 to go to work...the emails were sent at 7. I have changed the password now so I am hoping everything will be ok. All the emails in my inbox and sent box were deleted so I can't see what else was sent. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

No one needs access to your PC to use your mailbox, as it's done on the server, but this sounds more like a virus. Is it your work or personal email account?

ETA - well done jinky! What about the stuff you're taking with you?

  • greenbee If its any help, we've got a woodburner and had to have the hearth replaced about 18 months ago as when it was installed by the previous owners, the hearth didn't meet safety regs, it was too shallow for the burner. Anyhow, it was messy to get it changed but all they did was unattach it from the main pipe thing, slide in the new hearth and put it all back.
mudbath glad you've got your eye checked! Be careful with the driving! It is legal to drive with one eye covered as long as your other eye has good enough vision but remember to turn your head a lot more to make sure you don't miss anything to the side you've got the patch on!

Flying just isn't happening today..unless I can count programmes decluttered from the sky box?!
  • Mudders try googling Rihanna eye patch - she has a very sparkly jewelled one, you could cover yours with PVA then roll it in glitter to match your outfit? :D

Poohbear biggest hugs for you sweetie, you've made the right choice, and I'm sure you gave doggy the best life possible.

    Today I have:
    Been to uni
Rang Eon to sort out statement of account
    Taken out bin bag
    Scrubbed shower glass thing
    Updated antivirus
Deleted a load of prgrammes to try to speed up laptop
    Done homework for tomorrow

About to take the laundry down and get boyf to vacuum so I can chase up fixing my curtains and then sort the bedroom out a bit.

    Love to all

    Hello!
Well I was very lucky as there happened to be an eye specialist at my GP's so he had a look at my eye. I've scratched the cornea quite badly and it's going to be painful for a while but it will repair itself with the help of some drops! They've put a patch over it. I look so fab! I'm wondering if I can customise the patch for the dinner dance. Oh well, at least it will get people talking to me as I don't know many people who are going (not that I have a difficulty talking to people!!):rotfl:. I'm so lucky he was doing clinic though otherwise it would have been a good few hours at the eye hospital and I've got parents evening, taxi driving and work!:

Ouch, that sounds awful. It must be very painful. I hope you can still manage to drive. Otherwise all your taxiing and parent's evening plans are going to be scuppered. hugs for you!

Thanks, that's useful to know! I've emailed them to say that I want the hearth, and if due to an act of god it doesn't arrive they can fit it on the existing hearth and refund me the money!

The problem is likely to be a virus rather than a hacker/spammer, but you need to contact your service provider and also get yourself over to the techie board for some advice, as they're very good at this kind of thing.

OK... the woodstove people (due to faffing about on their part) can't guarantee that they'll get the new hearth on time for installation on Nov. 30th, which, as I've told them before, is the ONLY date I can do this year, or for the foreseeable future.

They've suggested that they could do the installation with the existing hearth (which would be cheaper) and therefore guarantee the date, but they won't guarantee that the existing hearth won't be damaged when they open up the fireplace.

As the initially didn't think they'd need a new hearth, but told me during the survey that it was advisable to ensure that the stove was level, I'm not quite clear why they're changing their minds again...

I'm tempted to go with keeping the existing hearth (although it's quarry tiles on the outside and just a cement hearth in the fireplace, so when the fireplace is opened up it might not look great), but wondered what you lot thought - and whether anyone knows how easy it would be to fit a new hearth after the stove was installed if there are any problems...

    Thoughts/advice appreciated!!!

Suggest they find an independant installer to do the work for them then.. if they can't maybe you could find someone to send them an invoice.. they said they would do the owrk on a set date.. and you planned your days around them.. just let them know you know there are alternaivess.. obviously your custom isn't as important as their company image wants people to believe.

The current hearth sounds... dated.. they priced for a new one and therefore should get on with the work.. I'd be doing big complaining!

Mudders... eye patches are fabulous.. lol.. you could paint a scary eye on the outside of it like Madeye Moody from Harry Potter lol. You just need a wooden leg and you're sorted!

Pooh.. so sorry to hear about poochie.. give her a big hug from us and I am sure you wouldn't be making this decision if it was not the right one for her.
