Am looking at my recipe book now for chilli con carne as DH brought some mince and red kidney beans home that his mum gave him last night.

OK... the woodstove people (due to faffing about on their part) can't guarantee that they'll get the new hearth on time for installation on Nov. 30th, which, as I've told them before, is the ONLY date I can do this year, or for the foreseeable future.
They've suggested that they could do the installation with the existing hearth (which would be cheaper) and therefore guarantee the date, but they won't guarantee that the existing hearth won't be damaged when they open up the fireplace.
As the initially didn't think they'd need a new hearth, but told me during the survey that it was advisable to ensure that the stove was level, I'm not quite clear why they're changing their minds again...
I'm tempted to go with keeping the existing hearth (although it's quarry tiles on the outside and just a cement hearth in the fireplace, so when the fireplace is opened up it might not look great), but wondered what you lot thought - and whether anyone knows how easy it would be to fit a new hearth after the stove was installed if there are any problems...
Thoughts/advice appreciated!!!0 -
Thank you all very much for all your hugs. Tess has gone now. I chickened out at the last minute and DH went on his own. It was better because I was already blubbering before they left the house.
The vet says it was the right time so we both feel better about it. We got her as a rescue dog 15 years ago! She was always happy and now we can start to think about giving a second chance to another. We still have 'the wild one' that I share with DD. He is here now. DH bought him a massive bone so he hasn't missed Tess yet.
Flying wise. DH and I have cleaned all the downstairs floors, cleaned some stains off the carpet and put all the dogs bedding in the washing machine. Now we are just going to have some quiet time.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Hugs poohbear and your family, my heart goes out to you as I'd be lost without my Sox and I've only had her 3 years.
Greenbee - dont have a clue but it does seem strange them changing their minds
Rosepink - well done but who are Jessica and !!!!!!
In my half hour :-
I emptied the washing up from the bowl into the dishwasher and washed up what cant go in there once I'd worked out why there was no hot water. Power had gone to the sockets which supply the boiler because I'd put all the cooker rings on full to [STRIKE]warm the kitchen [/STRIKE] burn off the hot fat that was splashed and the cooker had tripped the main fuse . I wiped all the surfaces down, scrubbed the tiles and cleaned out the toaster.
Still [STRIKE]loads of the list [/STRIKE] pretty much all of the list to do thoughMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
