Call every day of every hour. Stop leaving it to them to sort this out, yes you should be able to but clearly your case has become quite messy.
Do not speak to anyone else aside from the fraud dept. If they are considering it fraud you should have a received a fraud pack in the post listing all the fraudulent charges.0 -
We had a very similar situation with Barclays bank - hubby took out a card, never activated it - phoned them and spoke to them assumed that was it..account never opened. We moved - they sent a new card and pin to our old address 3 years after we moved. We only knew about it when the card went over its limit - no activity on the account for 3 years then £300 out every day till over the limit and they didn't think this was odd? any how they tried everything to make us . To cut a very long story short it transpired that into hubby was out of the country when the money was taken - when we told them this they replied 'oh you could have given someone else the pin and card' how can you prove you didn't?? ... that was only one of the things they said, it was very nasty.
Ours only got sorted once we got the police involved. The police were brilliant and so helpful. I would say contact your local police asap.
Also I know its obvious but keep copies of all letters and send any letters recorded (or registered always get them mixed up the one where you get proof of delivery).
It too us months and months to sort ours out, it was very stressful (at one point hubby even looked into getting a loan to pay it off just to get rid of the stress of it .. s)omeone elses fraud).
Lesson learned with us to. I really hope you get it sorted out.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0 -

Under the Fraud Act (2006) it has been a requirement (since April 1st 2007) for cardholders to report card fraud to the card issuer - not the Police!
Yes, do tell the Police and get (and keep) the log number, but the Police will only investigate if and when the card issuer asks them to.0 -
to all the helpful replies - thank U guys ... a letter has been sent via recorded delivery and i also have obtained an incident number from the police.... hope it gets sorted now as i am not willing to pay some1 else's debt. Im surprised Abbey even authorised the payment as from nil balance to ver the credit limit in 24hrs should be classed as "unusal activit" and detect fraud?
To the others - i am in my 20's [assuming those who are unable to understand my typo are older/old fashion/not "with the times"] and most ppl i know abbreviate on the net - why wld i put paragraphs /punctuation?
it is an INFORMAL settings - grow up and leave ur judgemental views and opinions 2 urselves - its quite petty! it does not mean I am "not helping myself" [as some1 mentioned]
JemmaT - u mentioned "stupid" - i find it rather stupid that you put the effort in to have a cry about my typo yet not willing to help - why even bother! do u really have that much times on ur hands .....0 -

Being in your 20's does not excuse chopping random letters out of words in order to save milliseconds whilst typing.
As for "why wld" you use paragraphs / punctuation? Because it makes it easier to read!!!
The country is going to !!!! if you really think there's no need to construct a proper sentence or paragraph, just because it's an informal setting.0 -
TFD - please move on and get over it!! if it affects u that much... dont read it
it really is petty and a waste of reply on this post
Im after advice re fraud - in no way do i need an English lesson! my qualifications prove that0 -

Its certainly nothing to be ashamed off because you did not enjoy a good education. I have some friends that have suffered the same fate.0 -
I was the victim of card fraud recently and these are the steps I took to track the transactions. If anyone else has suggestions on what do do they will be gratefully received!!
You first need to get your statement (or ring your bank) to check EXACTLY which payment processor processed these charges. In the case of DataCash.com you have already got the name of the payment processor and Quasi-Charge may be a payment processor too. It is unlikely those payment processors are part of the fraud.
Contact the payment processors (by phone) and have your card number to hand, the amount of the transaction and the date of the transaction. Give them your name and address too, but explain that your name and address may not be associated with the transaction, so they need to find the transaction by your card number instead.
Once they have located the transaction get as much detail as they will provide:
1. The name the person used (if not your name). They may refuse to provide this but should tell you if it was your name used or not.
2. The address the person used (if not your address). They may refuse to provide this but should tell you if it was your address used or not.
3. The name of the company/website that the transaction went through
4. The country that the transaction originated in and in what currency.
5. Ask if they routinely check that name/address match the card number on ALL transactions.
6. Ask if they used 'Verified by Visa' or 'Mastercard Secure Code' on this transaction. It is doubtful that this was done as you stated that you have never used the card.
7. Ask them if any other transactions were attempted but failed.
8. Ask the Payment processor if the transaction was "Cardholder not present". If it was, then I think the payment processor will have to refund the money to your card issuer.
9. Anything else the payment processor will tell you.
10. Do steps 1-9 for ALL the transactions with ALL payment processors.
Once you have as much information you can get from your card issuer and the payment processors let me know if any involved transactions on any website and I will tell you what to do next. But probably best not to mention the websites by name on an open forum at this stage.
Please note I am NOT an expert. I learnt all this the hard way just a few short weeks ago! But it meant my card account was refunded before my monthly payment was due!0 -
thnx so much 4 the info Paul Varjak... really appreciate it
