  • The benefits thing bothers me and they have been caught out before, don't declare pay rises which takes them over the threshold. Annoys me as we were begging tax credits to stop paying us as we didn't want to owe them anything.

I wish they would get the hint and not go on about it as we never reciprocate but like you RT, when I am Debt Free I will not go on about it at all.

First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!

  • i would say if they had debt problems fair enough let them bleed alittle from the system but to not declare pay rises and talk about there money lifestyles is somewhat upsetting to people like myself who gets taxed alot after doing unsocial hours to see its been use to pay benefits to people who may not exactly be entitled to it i must not dwell i will get angry, im safely home must attempt some course work :O

  • Yeah, if people earn more that is fine, its just hard to see people not appreciate it, or get more than they should, or completely waste it. Was weird staying with my friends, they leave the lights on in every room, all the time, even the bathroom, the radio stayed on in the kitchen when no one was in there, they left the hot water on all day, they run the dishwasher half full. Their lifestyle (all the shopping, eating out, holidays) would still be there, and they'd have even more cash if they just weren't wasteful. Its a bizarre way to live to me now. I guess this is a good thing for me though! :T I can feel smug in my efficiency. Or summat like that.

Speaking of which, need to register with Quidco tonight and sort the car insurance.
Being harassed about a million and one things by my boss today. But I am on lunch. And will not cave to working during my lunch.
Good luck with the course work Happy! Sending intellectual thoughts your way, although can I have them back later as I don't have many to go round:rotfl:

HI - I know what you mean about energy usage! I went to my parents house and couldn't believe how many lights they had on, same at friends houses - I'm evidently further on with energy saving than I think I am...!

hey RT, glad the wedding went well, lovely to have a break and not spend a fortune.

I agree with you on the friends front, it is depressing when people talk about how much they spend and earn all the time, especially to us that are trying to save and pay off debt.

I abandoned the idea of making my pots with the boys after littles got covered in batter "helping" me do the yorky pud mix. I have got an old coffee jar for tax and a bisto one for house insurance.

I have labled them and shoved them on a shelf in my wardrobe, as not very pretty but they cost nothing. I am not under going to raid them...but may do obsesive counting of the coins!!!!

  • I love counting coins, i think sometimes seeing what you save for each budget makes you feel as if you have achieved something rather than it been stowed away in savings for the budgets. Although i am not suggesting i will be saving thousands and statshing it under the bed :P

  • I love counting coins too. Very therapeutic. In my change jar, the next bag to be filled is 2p, I'm 3 coins short of a pound! Exciting times!!!:D

Feel blue today. Not sure whats happened this month but we're out of money, OH gets paid on Friday, but we're chasing again and will have to pay a couple of things from this month with next months money (no charges or defaults, other things). Nightmare. OH hates his job, always feels out of his depth with little support. And having a lovely weekend makes it even worse in a way, as returning to reality is even more of a thud.
Sorry to offload on here, but there isn't anyone else around just now. Family is also being a pain in the !!! at the moment.
Just wish things were better. Not sure if its false hope to think 2010 will be easier than 2009.
Hope everyone is having a better week.

Sorry your having a rubbish day,:(. Its' horrible when the next wages get eaten by last month bill.

I know on the job front it is horrible to watch someone you love have to go to work every day when you know how much they hate it. My OH hated his last job, I used to hate it that we had no option but for him to hang in there until something better came along.

No advice really other than get a cv prepared and keep sending them out. I used to also try and do my OH lovely packed lunches, which he used to laugh at, but I used to think at least he can enjoy his crusty ham baguette, rather than a paste sarnie. So one part of his working day was not so bad.;)

On the family front :eek::eek:, sympathise their...all I can say is thank the lord for my fabulous friends!!
