Spoke to my mum and she agreed it was a good thing to do, if I burn out from too much going on, I won't be doing any of my three jobs!

  • haha, thanks chops. My third job is actually small, I just clean someones house once a week, £25 cash in hand, pretty easy. I have my main job, and then 2 or 3 shifts a week in a pub. But I've done some extra shifts this week and last week, good for the pocket, but I'm exhausted now. Counterproductive to do too much!
Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better.
  • Sorry you've had a rubbish day. This debt busting is hard work, let alone three jobs as well - try not to burn yourself out. Hope you manage to have a relaxing evening.

  • Thanks for all the support guys. I'm sitting with a fire going, browsing online for chutney recipes and watching a dvd, its all good now! My mum is good at knowing exactly when to tell me to stop and take a break, even from 300 miles away. I trust her to take a rest whenever she says :-)

    Hi Lemon Tree,
That is a good plan actually. I get paid cash from my second job, which makes it quite easy to just take out the £25 ish that it will be each month and put it in a sealed pot. Actually, because we were paying £46, I might put all of it into a pot and then I should have most of the tax as well :-)
    Thanks for the idea!

no worries this is the only way i've survived my debt travel. I work out all the insurances, car tax, mot, services, christmas etc and save that each months so i don't have to try and find the whole thing everytime it's due out of paypacket that there's really no lee way in.

Thank you, aim to pay £1200 a month and most on 0% so it tends to work out. I presume you are paying a lot at your debt though if you are aiming to be DFD by 2013 (is that right?). Be good to share a journey with someone with a similar debt - can keep each other going!

  • Lemon tree - this week I will try and figure out how much I need to put away each month if I was were to pay for all the big spends each year with cash. I'll then see whether I can afford to do this for everything or not.

InMyDreams - we pay £1600 a month towards the debt, of which £1100 is actually towards the debt. Our snowball at the moment is mid 2014. I'd like it to be sooner, and I think it can be, with expected increases in income, OH bonuses etc. I tell you, despite being reading the forums for ages, I have felt so much better about it the last few days after starting the diary and actually getting to know a bit more about individuals. Will definitely be good to share the journey with you!

Hi ramblingtree - hope you are feeling better, stress at work is not fun!

Well done on your overpayments and I am sure you will see your DFD coming down before long. Our minimum payments are now 710.00 a month - when we started it was close to 1500.00.

Keep going you are doing really well but make sure you include some you time as well x x

ETA - have a nosey on the Old Style board for chutney recipes x x

i have to admit i worked out the annual bills in stages, setting up different accounts for different groups of payments.
You have to figure out what works for you, many say only ever pay off the highest cost debts first but i agree that if you have some little debts you get a great boost if you pay the little ones off and that's worth it's wait in gold when you have a long path to travel.
