Happy New Year to you Saving Holmes and IMD - Hope you're both well, I need to catch up with your diary, can't believe how quickly the year is going already!!!
Hi Penguin - Wow, looking at your sig you've done really well, and to be debt free by the end of 2011 is great going. Sadly, I think I will take a lot longer, my aim is clear 17.5k this year, then reassess for next year, with the aim of paying more off. Currently the snowball says April 2014, but hoping to drag that forward...
Also well done on the weight loss!! You've lost loads so far. I've been gyming it up and feel a lot fitter, but don't think I am any smaller!!! Although, as I can't afford new clothes, maybe thats a good thing...
Sunny day here, hoping to get out and take some snow photos this afternoon on the moor. Hope everyone has nice weekend plans!0 -
I have also, after going over the budget sheets, updated my signature. Like you, IMD, I did not want to, I thought it was going to be awful. But surprisingly it looks ok. Not sure how I managed that, apart from the fact that I begrudge spending a single penny unless absolutely necessary anymore, but quite pleased that, despite paying for a new car and quite a few home improvements last year, I've still ended up with a chunk less debt than at the end of 2008.
Lets hope this year is even more successful :-)0 -
Always see updating your signature as a positive thing - even if the numbers are heading the wrong way, it shows that you are facing things and not trying to push them to one side in the hope that they will quietly go away!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Not nice updating the signature but I do feel slightly cleansed now that I've done it, like doing detention in school
Think my DFD is Feb 2015 so I need to shave a year off that for some degree of sanity, and there is the small matter of that challenge we have!

Oh man - I am terrible at getting on here lately!
Hypno - Completely agree, everything out in the open with all reality checks ticked.
IMD - thanks for the nudge to update. Life pretty hectic right now. I have 10 weeks of funding left on my PhD, a technician has completely c**ked up a big chucnk of my work so everything has been put into crisis mode. Not sleeping very well due to the stress so have a constant fuzzy headed feeling.
Job hunting going slowly, there is not much around and I'm finding it difficult to find the time. But that must change. I actually have no obligations for the weekend, so I think I will keep it that way and send out some letters.
I'm starting to look at a back up plan for if I don't get a job - my friend in London has offered me to move in with her during the week. There is plenty of work that I could do there that I'm qualified for that would pay well. Obviously this is not ideal, OH is struggling with not enjoying his job at the moment, and feeling trapped as he needs the high wage, so not being around to support him might be tough. But, its a back up plan of sorts.
I think I mentioned on the Long Hauler thread about the possibility of setting up a branch of a tutoring company where I live, as my friend set up a company in London, moved down here and now wants someone to run it in Devon. Which would be great, he couldn't pay me a salary, but I would take 80% of the profits of the company and would also tutor myself, which pays fairly well. It would require a lot of energy though and I have so much on, but it could be a good thing, both career wise and financially. But I think I need to figure out the main job thing first. But the guy is keen to get going on it if I'm interested. Too many things to do!
In slightly better news my training is now well under way for the Great West Run, I ran for an hour last night with my friend, and, although we were fairly slow, an hour is still ok going and we didn't feel all that tired afterwards.
So, I think thats me updated. I need to also look at the spreadsheet this weekend and update the signature as a few more payments have gone out.
Hope everyone else is doing well, I will try and catch up with your diaries soon as well.
Thanks for reading.

Hi RT, exciting news about the possibilty of the tutoring, it gives you options anyway to think about which is always a good thing.
Well done on the training. I couldnt manage 60 seconds never mind 60 minutes.
Hope you are well and hope OH's job improves soon xxxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
