  • ha, I think that. We spend so much time worrying about money, whats the cheapest way to do something, how we're going to afford what needs paying, I do wonder what a big empty space my head will be once the debt has gone!
I've been pretty rubbish at financial planning, and had some bad luck, and its always meant that I just never know how we're going to get through the next few months. All I want is to know I have a stash put away so there is no stress.
    One day soon!
£17.5k will put me below £70k, and should put you well below £60k! If we're in it together we can do it!

I am glad you are finding more support! We are over £10K better off for finding mse - it really can make a difference.... My spending habits have also changed dramatically - still not quite good enough but definitely improved

The Make £10 a day challenge for me isn't about selling my belongings - for me it is cashback sites, gambling loopholes, free daily scratchcards, cashback cards, loyalty cards etc.... Give it a go sometime - it really can make a difference....

  • Evening Saving Holmes - Thanks. Yes, I really need to look into the making extra money. I do some, but could do more. Its finding the time to figure it all out. I have a few days off between Christmas and new year, so will find more free scratchcards, sign up OH as well. I keep reading the matched betting instructions, but haven't got the hang yet...
  • Hello all,
Its friday  OHs work christmas party tonight, looking forward to it as can't remember the last time I went for a night out, and everything is paid for by his work, even the hotel room :T:T:T Very happy about that!
Also, sold a book on Amazon this morning, a textbook, £30 after deductions, which will be winging its way to me soon. Haven't sold anything on there for a while, so pretty chuffed about it.
Applied for a job this week, and part completed a form for another one. Also got the name of a woman to send my CV to, so keeping everything crossed that I get something before my contract is up in March.

Need to try and finish christmas shopping this week, and make a list of food needed. And send cards. Also toying with the idea of posting an SOA, but not sure yet. With my salary changing soon (for either better or worse!) not sure how relevant it will be. Maybe I should wait until I get a new job.

But, apart from my Egg loan payment, I will make all my payments this month, so thats a positive. Trying to be really good and not spend anything, but the sales have already started and I'm getting tempted. Do actually need some new clothes, but will not buy! Will have to look tatty for a little bit longer...:D

Hope everyone has some nice weekend plans, I would like it to rain on sunday as I have to work at my 2nd job :p
    xx

hi RT well done on resisting the clothes spend and on meeting most of your bills!

Have you got a profile on linked in as I got my latest role through that. I also set up a different email address in case of spam, missed out my home address but left in my mobile and posted my CV on monster, total jobs and I think another one. I found that hard to due to the risk to my privacy but I got interviews for jobs I never would have done otherwise

  • Hi SavingHolmes - I do have a LinkedIn profile, I just set it up last week. I haven't put my CV on monster or any of those ones. I definitely will though, the privacy thing is a worry, but not as much as being unemployed... Its all a bit overwhelming really, looking for a job is almost a full time occupation in itself, but I'm trying to free up more time to do it. I don't need to sleep, right?!

Hi RT - speaking as someone who spent nearly 6 months unemployed this year - despite starting their job hunt 3 months before finishing their job - it is really really important to job hunt! I also found my brain functioned so much better while I was still in work!

  • eeek, if I was unemployed for 6 months, I think that would be us gone under. We're treading such a fine line at the moment.
The last couple of weeks I've actually schedule time into my diary to do it, so its more focused.
As well as having a list of websites I check for advertised vacancies, I also have started a list of recruitment consultants (general and field specific) to send my CV to, and thanks for a random meeting of a guy in my field have no got myself on LinkedIn and he's started introducing me to people.
My next job after your suggestions is to put my CV up on Monster etc. I've found now I've started that my momentum is ok, it was just the getting going that took a little while.
