  • Hey!
Glad you're starting to feel better. I hear you on the weekend. Can't come soon enough.
I'm ok thanks, having the being-in-debt-blues today. Cancelled going to the party tomorrow, which is fine, but just another we can't do. Calculated that because of some household and car expenses we can't use OH bonus for car insurance, so back to paying monthly for that. Really short this month, still need to buy christmas lunch food. And then we get paid early but then January is going to be so hard, and my funding runs out at the end of March. Except I get paid in advance, and any work I get will be in arrears, so that leaves a month with no money and not enough to pay the creditors. Just feel like I don't want to do this anymore. Sick of chasing our tails. I turn 30 in January, and don't even feel like we can celebrate at all because we have no money. Just hate it sometimes.
Sorry, didn't mean to whinge when you've had a bad week too. Just really wish life was easier sometimes! Just a week off from the stress would be nice...

You got nice things planned for the weekend?

I think you are entitled to the debt blues occasionally - we all have them! You are allowed to be human!

Well sometimes we have to - try not to be too hard on yourself!

Yeah life is hard.... Are you doing the Make £10 a day challenge stuff? Not a lot else to suggest other than - try and find time to spend with a close friend at least once a week - so you can get some support

  • Sorry to hear that you've had the debt blues - it is horrible feeling but also look back at your post in which you say your debt has gone down, that is something to be positive about and give yourself a pat on the back for.

Hope you have a better day today x

  • Morning all,
Thanks SavingHolmes and IMD. The last week has just been really difficult. But I guess its that time of year. Coupled with difficulties at work which have slowed me up, and my contract running out in 16 weeks. Trying to find time to job hunt is hard. But, after a tough day yesterday, which involved both OH and I being utterly miserable about our debt and lots of crying, feeling a bit better. Sometimes you just need to ride out the trauma and then start again I guess. OH is asking to move onto slightly different work at his job which will make him happier, and I need to focus more on job hunting, the sooner I get something sorted the more I can concentrate fully on finishing this job. Glad I have here to vent, it really really helps.

But the debt has gone down, and I really want 2010 to be a good year for debt busting. I just don't think I'll feel completely positive about it until I have a job lined up. I don't do the £10 a day thread, I should maybe look into it. I think I've sold just about everything I can though, I think I will try for weekly spend challenge, and the fact that my aim for 2010 is to pay off £17,500. Which is going to be a struggle, but I will try my best.

But, until I get a job for when my contract ends I will continue as we are doing, just getting by, making the minimums and then once I know what my new wage will be, everything will be reassessed. I hate having to wait, but thats the way it has to be just now.

Hope everyone else is well and having a good week so far. Thanks for all the support.
    x

  • It is so so hard dealing with the debt and normal life. As I have a similar debt to you I fully appreciate quite how insurmountable it can feel at times. BUT we could bury our heads in the sand and not deal with it, I wrote a list of reasons yesterday for being debt free and the top were to prove to myself I could do it and to be able to provide better for my children.

I have horrendous days, I hate that it causes me and OH to argue but I am going to do this and you will too!

I will join you on the £17.5k challenge if you don't mind and we can spur each other on.

    Take care xx

  • Happy - Sorry you're by yourself, use it as an excuse to completely pamper yourself and have you time. Bubble baths, nice music while reading, sleeping star shaped... All the good things! Plus it gives you more forum time!
IMD - thanks for the encouragement, its true, sometimes it just feels like this will go on forever. I like your list. I might work on mine. I have so many lists of money saving things that you forget about the !!!!!! picture. Provide better for your children is nice, I would like to be able to afford to have one without having to return to work straight away and worrying about being able to afford the debt as well as raise a child.
To have a safety net is my second big thing. Not having to worry if something breaks, or insurance is due, or christmas. Just to have savings there to use when needed. I have never felt safe financially.
Join me in the £17.5k challenge! I will change my sig (again!) to include it. It would be nice to have someone join me ;-)
  • You're phrase "I have never felt safe financially" has struck a chord with me. As long as I can remember since earning money I have not handled it well. I wonder what I will think about when I am DF instead of money, money and money....

I will do my sig on 1st Jan and join you in it, how fab to enter 2011 £17.5k better off!
