  • Morning all,

I'm very lazy today and have only just got dressed. I don;t have much to do today though so it's not a hardship.

I was planning on popping up to our local organic farm and getting started on their weekly box scheme again as I think this will be easier for me than having to shop. Now I've seen one of the posts above about Abel and Coles £50 offer I'm not sure whether to sign up with them for four weeks instead. Ho hum. I think I might as then I can stock up with £50 worth of meat just before Christmas. Maybe I'll have a trip to the farm anyway just for this weeks shopping as A&C don't deliver in my area until Thursday anyway.

I really fancy pea and ham soup from watching HFW last night so I might get a ham hock too to boil up. That'll then do for lunch for the next few days.

Lunch today was odds and ends from the fridge and tea tonight will be stuffed peppers with a piece of salmon.
Yes that was me with the Abel and cole offer :D
    The original janiebaby ;)
  • Afternoon all

Well we have finally finished building the beds for the sensory garden in the school with work :) looks really good, and it's not even been painted and planted yet! Again only half my teens turned up today, but they worked hard and we finished just before the rain came. The school got us a big cake to say thanks :)

I'm back in the office now for a bit but finishing early as I'm off to watch the rugby, Wales V Samoa at the Millenium Stadium. Going up with some friends but also meeting my brother up there, which will be nice cos we don't see each other that often (he lives in Bristol).

Nothing OS for me apart from unloading dishwasher when I get in from work

    Have a good evening

    Afternoon all.

Once again, there seem to be so many here who are unwell, worried about loved ones, or sad or hurting for other reasons. I won't list names, as I'm bound to inadvertantly omit someone; but you know who you are, and there's a Wolfy (((HUG))) for you if you'd like one.

Today has gone totally and utterly awry.

Some background first: where Mr LW works, they have to occasionally do early and late shifts. Early (which he did yesterday) means starting a 07:00 with the early morning system checks, working from home, and finishing at 15:30. They do lates the following day, which means going into the office for 09:30 and working til 18:00 OR LATER if there are patches to apply or other maintenance to do. They also have to ensure that the person doing earlies is OK (ie no problems logging on etc) and cover if needed.

OK, so today Mr LW should've been on lates. Colleague S, on earlies, should've texted him at 07:00 to say he was starting today's checks. 07:10 comes, but no text. So Mr LW texted S. No reply. 07:15, Mr LW rang S, only to be told that S didn't know he was on earlies (they get a rota given them, so why he didn't know is a mystery) and had left his laptop in the office. So Mr LW is now doing earlies again, from home, and S is in the doghouse and the boss has said that S must do the late stuff tonight.

It's lovely having Mr LW here, but of course it's put me all at 6's and 7's, because I was going to get him to go shopping for me at lunchtime; now we shall both be going when he finishes (15:30) instead.

And yes, I did shop yesterday, at Mr T's. This is a trip to Mr M to get the stuff I couldn't get in Mr T plus the stuff I forgot we needed.

Tomorrow, I have to get organised.......

    :hello:Good afternoon!

Sounds as if tonight is going to be "interesting" weatherwise  At times like this I'm glad we don't live on the coast, much as I love the sea!

mioliere and Hester, many thanks for the hugs, but much as I appreciated them, I think you may have been getting me confused with Purpleivy :)

Penny_Pincher -so sorry to hear your sad news (((HUGS)))

flutterby - glad you are pleased with the garden!

Diva - :hello: and best wishes to Tris.

    Welcome missymoo.:hello:

ravylesley - Your poor husband! Glad to hear he's on the mend. What a shock for him (and for all of you, come to that.)

Has anyone heard from SunnyDay? I can't remember if she's on holiday.

Later on I think we'll get all the bins and bring them through the house to the back where they'll be less likely to be blown over.

Dinner tonight - not really decided yet, but we got some frikadellen from Lidl yesterday so we'll probably have those, nice and easy ;)

I'm trying to psych myself up to reorganise the kitchen cupboards, especially the one with tinned food in it. I keep putting it off, as it's quite a deep cupboard and I can't get down easily to reach to the back :D When we eventually get a new kitchen, I shall have big drawers rather than cupboards! Then the tins won't end up falling down into a higgledy-piggledy heap :p

  • GOOD AFTERNOON ALL ..... I'M BACK:j:j:j:j

I got home from school today to find 4 little blue lights on the home hub which means we are back in the land of MSE and OS'ing:T
My, how I've missed you all.
The move went as well as can be expected. Very tiring, but satisfying to finally be moved after waiting 2 years!!! We have the usual problems on moving in, not least the fact that I discovered the garage roof leaks big time Had to get a chap in the day after moving to batten down a huge tarpaulin to keep it water-tight until the spring then we will have to think about re-roofing. The garden is totally overgrown with nettles but that is a good thing as it means I can start with a totally blank canvas once the ground dries out:rolleyes: Telephone and internet were re-connected today so I can catch up with loads of work.

I'm not sure I will have time to catch up with two weeks' worth of news so I shall send hugs to those in need and hope I haven't offended anybody with bad news that I haven't acknowledged. I'm looking forward to being 'back in the fold'....

Love to you all - I have soooooooo missed you:p

Hi all, hope you are all well

elona - so sorry you've been so ill ((hug))
LW - nice to see you back too, I wondered where you'd gone :)

Well, today has been the 13th.

My sister isn't well again and I am really worried about her :( She's having a rough time at home trying to find work as they will stop her JSA soon. Sadly she hasn't been very lucky so far and every rejection is really bringing her down. Her DH and MIL aren't being supportive and it makes me so cross - they don't understand that the money is so tight for them that it means the luxuries have to be cut - it isn't her fault it is just life to have to put the needs before the wants. She certainly isn't lazy at all but she takes such criticism so much to heart. I am making up a box of little things to send her to cheer her up. I want to help finianically, but I am worried she will be offended, so I've just got some Tesco gift cards for the moment, some Boots vouchers (which I will send under the pretense of them being for my little nephew) and will speak to her soon. In my box so far I have - a fluffy blanket (as I'm not there to give her a hug), a mug with some chocolate sachets and marshmallows, emergency chocolate, some little sweets, a comedy DVD, shampoo and a hair cut voucher (to protect against bad hair days), a little bottle of wine (because there is wisdom in wine, freedom in beer and bacteria in water), a reusable shopping bag (to let her know if she has to carry things, then it can be easier), a tesco voucher (specifically to buy diet coke), diet coke glass and a picture of the diet coke break man - as a diet coke break (she is, like me addicted to the stuff), a copy of the feeding your family with no fancy gadgets cookbook and enough tesco vouchers to cover her monthly shop, a photo frame with a little quote in it to remind her how wonderful she is and some makeup bits.

I want to make a voodoo MiL tonight and a perfect man gingerbread man to add to it then wrap each thing up indiviually and number them so she opens one a day for the next however many days. I worry so much about her when she is depressed as it can be very very serious. All of my siblings, me and my mother are prone to depression, but it does seem to hit the middle two far far worse than the rest of us.

I have queried the insurance assessors assessement of my bike and now they are acting weird with me - I don't think it is a write-off at all so it looks like I will try and repair it myself, but they keep trying to convince me to let them scrap it. He tried to argue that I don't know what happened to it when it was out of my sight (for a couple of hours) - but then if I bought a second hand one I wouldn't know how it had been treated for the past few years, so that's a null arguement!

I got at letter from my building society and they have closed my current account in error and transferred the funds to an ISA, rather than transfer most of it and leaving the account open like they were supposed to. I have just been in and sorted that out - so now I have a new account :)

My uncle's funeral will be when I am away, so I'm trying to regig dates, but no luck yet.

    So all go...

OSwise I have done all the laundry - I did feel guilty putting the washer on so late last night but at least it drowned out our rather "vocal" neighbour :rotfl: I'm sorry if I made the earth move for her at midnight. :) I have hoovered, taken some more photos for folksy (realising how hard it is to photograph something 13 mm tall) and picked up some shopping. I even did some work today in the interim. I went to college for lunch with the students so tea will be a sandwich for me and leftover pasta and sauce for OH.

I am still smiling. It's more of a manic sort of odd-fixed-don't-ask-I'm-just about-coping sort of smile smile - but it's a smile. It wants vodka, but it's a smile :) have a good day all, cel x
