Id like to know why the competition commission hasn't looked in to apples dealings with the the mobile networks yet

Because you don't have to buy an apple anything. You are chooising to buy a i whatever, there are alternatives.

Tesco do offers like spend £50 in store get £30 off any phone and clubcard points. SOo things like that will make the iPhone cheaper to some. Not to mention if enough networks join the race and the prices don't change is there not a law against price fixing? Look at the big fine BA got when Virgin grassed them in for Transatlantic flights being fixed ;)
It is about time the networks were investigated for things like that. Also Apple hardware tends to be the same price everywhere as once it's sold teh company doesn't make much more from you. With a phone networks make more on extra expenditure on your bill and Apple sells you apps, jailbroken means no warranty for 18-24months till contact is up. So a risk many people won't take means Apple has a bigger audience to sell to.

I'd love to be wrong but it will get excluded from offers. Apple have clearly stated they will not allow the iPhone to be subsidised to any great extent as they don't want cheap iPhone on low monthly conracts taking sales away from the ipod range.

Apple are reportedd to be getting a slice of the months revenue from both rental and calls,

It's not price fixing it's simply if you don't toe the apple price line they may find they are unable to supply you with hardware. Apple don't need Tesco the phones and ipods are sold everywhere, and again it's not like if you have a phgoen the Iphone is the only choice, so theres no issue of cometition to e looked into. If the only mobile you could buy was an Iphone and it had a fixed price maybe, but you have a choice.

Jailbreaking isn't an issue, there are enough people who want it regardless, until that rush dies down Apple don't currently need to compete on price they are selling as many as they can make..

I'd rather they reduced the £45 they charge me a month for my iPhone instead though!!!!

Quite funny! It's you who opted for £45/month price plan!

There won't be any price war just because simple law of economics.

People are buying iPhone even at an inflated price. Apple somehow managed to convince people that having iPhone shows you are cool.

Companies reduce price only when products are not selling at higher price or they expect more overall revenue by reducing the price.

Most people buy iPhone for exclusivity* which Apple wish to maintain. So, they won't allow price to fall much. This is evident in all Apple products. They are not the best products in market yet people buy them. So why reduce price?

    * = More people buy BMW 3-series than Ford Mondeo yet former is still considered exclusive :)
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Tesco like the word cheaper because the more they say it the more mugs go in & buy their overpriced rubbish.

Anything more than a couple of quid cheaper a month over O2/Orange would be a shock.

Because it is still overpriced if it was £50 cheaper at Tesco.
