Mmm, so they dont have to include the charge in the price of the ticket because it's optional.

If this is the case then why don't they have to show the check in charge in the price of the ticket? everyone has to check in....don't they?
  • ive looked at the ICE euro card and cannot find whether you can top it up by BACS. Can anyone that has one confirm that this can or cant be done. If it has to be topped up online by a debit card then its no use to me.

7.1 The initial load can be paid by credit card, debit card or by bank transfer.

7.4 Top ups can only be paid by credit or debit card.

I got this back from Caxton today. It seems like there will be no fee to use the Caxton Global card on the Ryanair website (I'm sceptical as Ryanair charges UK fees for UK travel):

    Thank you for your email.

There is a £1.50 fee per transaction for using the card in the United Kingdom. So basically it depends on where the airline is from. It does not matter whether you book the flights on a UK website or whether you purchase the flights in Stirling, it all depends on the country the airline originates from.

    Example:
Easyjet and British Airways are UK based companies so there would be a £1.50 charge.
Ryan Air is a Irish based company so no fee. Air France, Lufthansa etc flights would not incur a fee as based outside the UK.

In regards to the card that best suits you, if you travel to the Eurozone a lot we would recommend the Euro Card. Otherwise the Global Traveller card covers all places outside the Eurozone, so Australia, New Zealand, Morocco, Thailand etc etc. The US dollar card is just for the USA.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I hope this is true, as I will be applying for a Caxton card today!

I have to say I'm pretty skeptical about this... Ryanair is registered as a company in the UK, operating from Stansted airport. I suspect that when you pay for a flight in GBP it's processed by Ryanair UK rather than Ryanair Ireland. If that's the case, I would think that as far as Mastercard is concerned it's a UK company.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but I'm taking that email from ICE with a pinch of salt.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

okay i will be upfront , i don't / (won't again) travel Ryanair on ethical and moral grounds , and because i don't like their sneaky ways and attitude .

if you do travel Ryanair then thats your choice , but i just have to ask this question to Mr O Leary .... why are you even bothering to go to these absurd lengths to maintain a headline grabbing flight price of 1p , 2p ect ??? everyone in the UK must surely know that you have to jump through impossible hoops and travel in not much more than the clothes you are wearing to get this price .

who does he think he is kidding anymore . are there really people out there who think that when Ryan air says a flight costs from this much that is end figure you will pay if you want something even approaching a practical flight experience ??

it's like car hire , i hate devious charging and add ons ect , Give me a up front price and be honest and you know what ??.... i will probably go with you . be sneaky and i will pay a few quid extra to fly with the airline who isn't , and Ryan air need to face up to the fact that many others feel the same way about them , or do they just like being mean to stupid / poor people ??

Ryan is one major incident/ accident away from some very hard times IMO, and it will happen one of these days of that i'm very sure .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Thus far, I have managed to find flights that I have paid pennies for without any hassle at all with plenty of luggage to spare. During their penny sales, I could probably book a flight for pennies in the same time as it took you to type your rant. Impossible hoops? lol

A bit different next year although I am sure I will get something that will work out a lot cheaper than paying Ryanair the £10 fee each return.

You hope or you know because you are an expert on aviation safety?

They have to honour 'advertised' prices. The advertised prices are the ones which are actually promoted on the website/press etc, which have free web checkin.

Otherwise you are just asking for a quote, which they give you, including the checkin fee.

I am not excusing this, I avoid Ryanair, but it is legal.

I also cannot see any obvious fees for signing up for and using the Net+ card to pay online (e.g. ryandispair) in sterling. BUT, I wonder if i incur any charges for "All you have to do is deposit money into your NETELLER account"? Has anyone else joined? I can't be bothered jumpng thro all those hoops to find out the bad news one line before the "debit my card-do not press the bak button" command marc
