I found the pound shop bulbs blew after only a week or two!
However I also discovered that Toolstation sell decent ones for 77p! 1 year on and still working
GU10 bulbs, 77p at Toolstation0 -
I've bought tin openers from both the 98p and 99p shops in my shopping centre - neither worked - both managers were astounded when we took them back and complained - one insisted they worked fine because he had one at home, but neither managers were able to open a tin we provided with a single tin-opener in their respective shops - they reluctantly gave us a refund (but didnt take the faulty items of the shelf). Later bought one in Tesco for £1 - and it's still going strong!0

Tesco sell those GU10 bulbs in there £1 range, in the black and yellow boxes with all other small bits and bobs.
I think you get either 2 or 3 for £1. So far they seem as good as another bulb to me.
At first I thought the bulbs kept blowing as I was changing them, but I realised I moved into my house around five years ago and as all the light fittings were new and installed at the same time, it was actually each seperate original bulb that was blowing, not the new ones.
I think I have 15 of that type of bulb in my house and when the five years passed, around 10 of them blew within a month.0 -
Balloons - £1 in Poundland but 78p in Tesco.
Wouldn't trust the 2 for £1 pregnancy tests either (not that I've tried them)
The pregnancy tests work perfectly actually! Do exactly the same job as the more expensive ones but save you anything upwards of a fiver against other well known brands.0 -
My local poundland has CSI Miami Booster Packs for a pound, in perfect condition, RRP c.£8-£10. Can be played with the board game or as a stand-alone game.
I think there is quite a lot of tat in poundshops but there are some real gems hidden away if you know what to look for.0 -
Pregnancy test kits are not a state of the art medical device. Think of them like litmus paper that changes depending on the pH of water. All pregnancy kits are based upon being able to respond to a hormone (HCG) in urine. This hormone is produced by females (and eventually excreted in urine) who have entered pregnancy.0

Just to pick up on the comment of the batteries being rubbish...
In Poundland and 99p store they have Alkaline batteries which are fantastic and the cheapest anywhere.
Just look closely at the specification.
Alkaline batteries are the ones to go for!0 -
If you love GOOD chocolate, 99p stores often have Lindt and other premium brands alongside the more bog standard ones like Cadbury.etc The cheaper brands are not such a bargian at all, but the quality stuff CAN be £2,50 a bar in regular shops!
Stock up and enjoy! YUM!:T0
