Exactly. In your opinion it is not hard to fill in but you are not the one filling it in. I am tempted to go and get the form now and post some examples of the tickbox choices and how silly they are (keeping in mind that people are judged on precisely these exact answers when the bods with the hidden cameras are watching).
I apparently have an IQ of 148 (yes, yes, here come the witty replies) and I found it ****** hard to fill in, what about everyone else!!

But in this instance it doesn't matter one jot does it? The OP could complete it in Chinese for all the difference it will make as she is not going to be claiming IB. You are absolutely determined to make an issue of something that has no point at all.

My husband's IB50 does not appear to have anything about using his hands....

It has General Information about the patient, sitting in a chair, getting up from a chair, standing, bending or kneeling, toilet needs, anxiety, depression and other mental problems, other information, Doctor's Statement and a page to fill in by someone else if they have filled the form in for you. There is room to elaborate on your 'tick box' answer in each section.

My husband has had three questionnaires and two medicals in the five years he has been on IB and never had to appeal.

(Edited to add...sorry I've just realised I do not have the full form here....some bits of it not relevant to my husband are missing. I have a copy of the last one he sent in to the DWP).

Anyway, this is off-topic and irrelevant to the original poster, who I agree does not have to fill the form in anyway if she chooses not to.

Lifting and carrying questions page 11? Similar set up.
My form has the hands section!
It sounds like you were going to disagree with me no matter what I said!
I've not had to appeal either - yet - that's not the point but I don't think we're going to get any further forward here!

Well excuse me krisskross but I started by replying to your sweeping assertion that filling the form in was a 'minor' thing and everybody should stop whingeing and get on with it if they want the money!
IB50 may not be an issue for you but it is for a lot of people.
Nobody is saying that there shouldn't be a form at all, you are missing the point.

  • Willa, see my edited post - I do not have the complete form. Just realised.

I too think we need to agree to disagree. :)

I was responding to the OP and ONLY to the OP. My response to anyone wanting to continue claiming IB with queries about the form would be totally different. In fact I wouldn't respond to queries about IB50 as the only one I have seen was 10 years or so ago so I wouldn't have the knowledge required.

However in this case the question of how to fill it in is entirely academic as the OP will not be claiming IB after Christmas.I think it is you who are missing the point.

But.......you started this KK..........you didnt take into consideration the OP's (or my) original question, saying that by the time the form was received by them, we would be off the benefit anyway... See post 42

I think its time to put this one to bed, as its gone off topic....
