Theres backlight bleeding on many LCDs too
I have an LCD monitor which goes blank after a couple of seconds. It comes back when I turn it off and then on but only for another couple of seconds before blanking out again. This can continue for about half an hour before it proceeds to work normally.

I have read that the screen going off in such a manner indicates a backlight or backlight inverter problem but I can't see how that marries up with it working fine after half an hour. Could they be knackered?

I see that backlights also have a typical lifetime of about 10000 hours which I could knock off easily in 2 or 3 years. Is there anything similar for plasma screens which could also limit their lifespan?

I have recently bought a Samsung LCD32B450 for use with my PS3

My sisters boyfriend has an LG 100Hz 42" Plasma and the picture quality on my Samsung LCD 32" playing exactly the same game is FAR superior with FAR more clarity.

IMO if money is no option get a Panny Plasma.

But if you are on a budget get an LCD. Not impressed with lower end Plasma.

If money is no object and you want the very best then get a Pioneer Plasma

If you are budget conscious but still want an excellent picture then get a Panasonic plasma

If you are budget conscious but don't care about picture quality then get an LCD from Tesco or Aldi:eek:

Or if you want the equivalent of a new pioneer, the Panasonic Z1 is tech they bought from Pioneer, so it pretty much IS the next pioneer, but with a panasonic badge.

I'm waiting for one to come in at work, but I don't think my store's big enough. It's available in oxford street, though, on display, if you're in london.

They had the 50" Pioneer on clearance discount in my local Comet when I last looked in, a couple of weeks ago!

When I asked why, they said it had been shipped to their branch by mistake and they didn't know what to do with it.

I forbore to suggest that they re-gas it – they might have tried to.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

  • Get the Pioneer kuro its is absolutely superb.
Even now nothing comes close. Bought mine about 4 months ago and had them side by side with the Panasonics, the Pioneer blew it away.
