Um, ok then... it is rather pertinent to the thread actually as when noone can tell what on earth is going on and when the thing is coming out and who might be supplying it, you can hardly get a good idea of what sort of deals are going to be out there.

    I posted some time ago:

but assuming that it literally means pay as you go, ie. no line rental, then you can get yourself an effectively SIM-free n900 there "on Vodafone" for £392.99 ...
the exact same phone and PAYG tariff is now on there for £469.99 which is £77 more than just a couple of weeks ago. It would seem nokia retail are not offering great value as their phones all work out pretty close to the standalone price of the phone SIM-free from Nokia directly.

THIS is why some information from other companies would be extremely helpful right about now, especially as the scammers are starting to creep into things like eBay and Google shopping etc. with dodgy fakes/whatever. I contacted one "Marketing Actions Limited" who list it as £280. They give their address in Birmingham in an area I'm very familiar with and I'm pretty sure it's just a house. I quote their email:
Thank you for the response regarding the Nokia N900. Yes we have the phone available in stock and they are originally made by apple.

    Shipping fee: FREE
    Insurance/Vat: $50USD
    Nokia N900: $320USD

How many do you want to buy and also where are you located.

    Kenny

It *might* be legit, but highly unlikely given all the evidence... shame, I'd love an Apple N900 for just $370!

Incidentally I'm working on a tool which should work in all Java enabled web browsers that will take the details of a phone tariff deal and cost of phone and help you simply work out the true cost of the phone and the tariff. I hope to have this ready in a few days if anyone is interested - it certainly makes it easy to see just which deals are and are not good ones!

I have been looking at the N900 for some time but with the delays of pre-ordered units I wanted to upgrade through Vodafone (no chance yet!) or get one instore but I haven't been able to find any info on who has stock. Maybe I'll just have to wait for the pre-orders to get sorted to find a reasonable deal. I hope it's not too long though!!!

Nokia have been really poor about communicating the N900's release. I just wish somebody would step up and let us all know what is going on. If anyone has any info please pass it on.
