Today, I went to Tescos and did a large shop £90+ and then 2 smaller shops of under £10, used coupons without buying the items on the first 2 shops, then on the last went to a cashier who was young male and bored looking. Unfortunately, he starting talking about team briefings, voucher usage and said he could only take one voucher ! I was just about to get out my printed Tesco policy voucher from HQ when a supervisor came over and told him it was one voucher, to which I replied, yes one voucher of a product, not one voucher in total. He told him to scan them through to which the SA replied he was told off last week for doing the same thing ! Anyway, had the money off but it was abit of a song and dance, the point I am making............
Even Tesco staff don't always know the policyI am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL

Tonight I asked the lady who sold me my lottery tickets whether I could use manuf. coupons in the store and not buy the product. She looked at me like I was daft and said "No - you need to buy the product"
Not to be put off I went to a young cashier and presented the coupons after she scanned everything thru. She happily accepted them.
So - definately depends on who you get to serve you. Choose your cashier wisely.:D0 -

How do you get the policy? It would be really handy to have just incase they do make a song and dance about it...0 -

I think Welsh will confirm for me even with the written policy you will have difficulties with some as they develop an inability to to distinguish between one and one of each.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

You could email Head Office (email address may be on their website?). Welsh-dragon emailed Tesco head Office and got a reply she posted here:

Hope it's OK with you Welshy to link your post here, as I expect you've long since gone to bed tonite anyway?? By the way thanks for this post although I wish Tesco would stop using the slightly ambiguous wording and clarify whether it's supposed to be 'one coupon' or 'one per product' (as long as it's the latter!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes coupon-mad the one coupon or one per product can be the technicality.
That confuses the cashiers and even with a copy of the policy in my handbag and showing it to a supervisor has still resulted in them accepting only one voucher as goodwill. Trial and error, I know certain stores which will take my vouchers and others nearby that have a completely different take on the policy.I am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL

just a thought.... and please this is just in general....do you think by emailing and writting to head office is highlighting the situation....and bringing it to their attention all the time.....yes its nice to know the policy and where you stand, but it has been said and proved... on this and other threads...basically it what takes their fancy on the day and what sa you go to....to what and how many coupons they will accept off you.....
what do you think?....this question is just a general debate one....Work to live= not live to work0 -
WELSH-DRAGON wrote:Hello - Dormouse I generally use a sun newspaper voucher, the telegraph voucher, the observer vouchers every time I go shopping, then if they expire I send them off to the Sun on a voucher exchange. I have had no problems using them each time at Tescos. (Although the quick read vouchers have been banned and staff threatened with the sack if they accept them !)
Welshy x
Hi can u explain why the Quick Read vouchers have been banned only i've just got back from my hols and have a lot of catching up to do.0 -
I actually bought a book at Asda, and handed over ONE of the quick read vouchers, and it was rejected !!!
sa said they don't take ANY book tokens, yet they sell books, so I cannot understand their stance. Needless to say I returned the book and got a refund. If they can have their policies, I can have my principles !!:D0
