Several off the major supermarkets - Asda and Tesco - will accept money off vouchers off any shopping. However it doesn't mean we can all go and get £100 off dog food vouchers and expect a free shop. They will normally take a few off each shop. Others checkout staff may accept 10 - others may accept none. There is no strict rule. If you need any coupons there are a few sites that list coupons https://www.money-off-coupons.blogspot.com

As for other shops accepting them. My guess is that the very very small corner shops would if you shopped regular and got to know them. Never heard of any other shops taking them though.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Note that not all tesco will accept will accept money off vouchers off any shopping. All my local tesco's will only accept them if you have bought the product the voucher is for. Yesterday i used a few different coupons and they checked i'd bought every item by looking through my bags. I had bought all the products because i know they will not accept them otherwise. However my local asda accepts any coupons u give them as long as the item is sold in store.

Hi, regulars will know I am always advising people on coupon-use!

If you are talking about manufacturer's coupons (i.e. with a barcode and NO specific Supermarket logo) you should be able to find a branch of Tesco, Asda or Waitrose who will accept it as cash against your shopping.

Not generally accepted at Boots, Somerfield, Sainsbury's etc. unless you buy the specified item.

If you have coupons with a store logo (e.g. ones cut from the Asda, Sainsburys, or Somerfield magazine) these will scan at other Supermarkets, but at my Tesco many cashiers will say no to these as Tesco does not get the money back on them. Also, coupons with a Tesco logo will not even scan at tesco UNLESS you buy the product.

Here's a couple of old threads to help, also try the option 'search chat forum' above and type in 'coupons' for more chat going back years if you want!:

Thanks coupon-mad and here is my copy of the Tesco coupon policy direct from Tesco Head quarters. I have printed this off and have a copy in my handbag should I ever feel the need to show it to a Tesco supervisor.

    Thank you for your email.

Any coupons, which display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.

With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. The coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.

This also applies to coupons printed from the Internet. These will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk

But as above, varies from store to store and even to a certain degree the cashier.

My understanding of above policy: I have 10 cat food vouchers, I can only use one without buying the product as long as it is in date. I then have 10 assorted vouchers I can use all 10 because they are not duplicates and not for the same items. Not an automatic right but it really does help with my bills

Small corner shops won't take them. My local independant shop owner told me other customers were complaining during a Walkers cash giveaway promotion where there were millions of free packet vouchers in the crisps. He said it wasn't worth joining the scheme as the Walkers minimum redemption value was too high. He was worried in case he gave away the free crisps, but didn't get enough vouchers to redeem which would have left him out of pocket.
Here I go again on my own....

No problems - until I stumbled upon this site I wasn't sure whether I could, as well as the good advice on here it is nice to have that reassurance to try handing over coupons Tescos without the panic of wondering what they will say.

Here's wishing you lots of money saving - Welshy x
