And yes, the machines do know if you've inserted the coupon, there's a sensor thingie that is very clever! And anyway, I would definitely advise against trying to fool the self-scan machine as we all want the voucher acceptance to continue for as long as possible, so shouldn't be doing anything naughty!
Good luck with your vouchers!0 -
And I was told again in Tesco today that they don't take newspaper/magazine vouchers anymore. They were happy to take food ones (manufacturers' ones) though, but only 10%. Mind you, this was just a small Tesco Metro.
I'm getting a bit fed up not knowing what the policy is going to be each time I go to Tesco... Oh well, we're moving this week so it will be even more fun discovering the policies of my new local supermarkets!0 -
Good Luck Dormouse with the move, hope you are moving to an area where voucher savings can be made !

Re: Tesco coupon policy
Personally, when I came here onto MSE as a newbie, I was grateful for the advice and suggestions BUT I wanted something in black and white from Tesco just to re-iterate what everyone was saying on here. I didn't want to get to the checkout and not have the confidence to know what to say or know the full facts. Has it helped me having the Tesco policy yes it has and whenever I receive a PM from someone asking about vouchers etc, I tend to send them as much info as possible which sometimes includes the Tesco policy.
My email to Tesco is from April 2005 and I only emailed once, but as this discussion is always ongoing I tend to copy and paste mine as and when required. It may highlight to Tesco the fact that more people are aware of the policy BUT also may make them realise that the grass-roots stores need to be briefed on it too.

Hello Ms-Money-Penny - hope you had a good holidaymy store has banned the quick read vouchers, HOWEVER, other stores will still take them so try them and see. You may have success or not, but worth a try. As we know all Tesco stores vary and I know my local Asda still takes them.

Not any more, that stopped several years ago much is the shame, however you may get the odd one that will accept them, the worst they can say is no isn't it, if perhaps you catch one of the shopfloor staff manning the petrol kiosk it would be worth a go, but generally the service station staff are regulars and know the score.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
It seems to depend so much on the cashier. Over the last week with the Quick read tokens, I have had, in the same Tesco store: one say they don't take them, one say only one at a time, one say only two at a time and another three take any number I cared to use - got through a total of £26 in 3 transactions. All I can say is good luck and don't argue if they say no just try again another time.£2 saver club £16 so far!! - it's growing!!! :j

I have to say that Tesco just make me laugh so much.
Having shopped at the Ashby Tesco for several months and on all occassions had any number of vouchers accepted (no duplicates) I have been informed today that they are only allowed to accept 2 vouchers per transanction. This is due to the fact that Asda are now stopping accepting vouchers too.
So my Tesco now allegedly have a "two per shop" rule.
What will it be next week?
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for whatever they accept but it is these "new rules" that keep on popping up!If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' someone else's dog around!0
