RISI is fab :) Strongly recommended to all moneysavers :D

Except if you are a real bookworm you have a mountain of books to get rid of and you keep getting books back :rotfl: Moneysaving if you have the strength of character not to go and buy books as well as swap them :o

I'm amazed at some of the books that swap though

  • I must admit I was a little nervous of using this site at first ....what if I sent my book and they didn't send theirs sort of nervous ....but I've never been disappointed yet.

Also by doing this I always recycle the jiffy bag that they've used to send me my book back to them....so I suppose I'm doing my bit in this way as well.

I love Readitswapit too! I've done about 12 swaps so far, all of which have been with no problems. I've turned down a few swaps as the other books have been far and away from my tastes, but at least you don't have to swap!

I love Readitswapit but have noticed a distinct lack of interest in my books recently. :( Hope it gets some new members soon. :)

I signed up for readitswapit yesterday and in the first half an hour had a swap agreed. I sent four books off this morning and all of the ones I will (hopefully) get back I was thinking of buying anyway, so plenty of money saved.
I had run out of space on my bookshelf so this is a great way of getting books, and making space for them!

Readitswapit seems to be down at the minute. I've had an email about a prospective swap but can't access the site. :(

I put a load of books on over the weekend and have just sent off my first book - postage was £1.39. I will be getting No Logo by Naomi Klein and am sending off Captain Correlis Mandolin. Plus i've already had a request for one of my other books.
grest site, still seems to be down at the minute though.

I hope this is the right board to post this. I have a few books that are unsuitable for re-sale, donating to charity shops etc due to being in poor condition - is there a green way of disposing of them, recycling them rather than them just going to landfill? Any help appreciated. :D

I also have this problem. When they go brown and smell of mushrooms I think it's the end of their useful life as a book. I was contemplating adding some of the pages to the composter but was worried that the inks and glues used in the bindings etc would be toxic (same problem with burning). Apparently they're not much good for recycling either as it is difficult to de-ink old books (so the interweb told me :)). Some suggestions other than binning them would be really helpful.
  • We got rid of some old disgusting texts books last year. I took them to the recycling centre and they told me to put them in with the cardboard.

Might be worth asking at your recycling centre.
