  • i take any like this to my local hospital, they are always grateful for them. The other place I have taken them too is the local hospice, where they are also much appreciated.

  • I was wondering if anyone has had any experience either selling or buying on Green Metropolis? It's the site that sells books mainly to promote recycling and donates 5p to the Woodland Trust.

If you're a seller, do the books move quickly or do they sit there for ages? Thanks.

I've listed about twenty books on there and sold two so far. That took quite a few months because of the way that Green Metropolis only offer one copy of each book up for sale at a time.

This thread HERE gives some differing opinions of using the site.

Personally, I prefer selling books on Amazon as it is a lot quicker. If you're prepared to wait for several months for a book to sell then Green Met would be a good alternative. :)

I can't answer your question, but it's a good Moneysavingexpert lead. I've already ordered a book out of print that I've wanted for ages! Thx

I haven't sold anything through Green Metropolis but I did buy a copy of "Better Sight Without Glasses" which is a great book for eye exercises and improving your sight generally. It was cheaper there than I could find anywhere else and I got good service.

I've sold lots of books on Amazon before I heard about Green Met but to be honest most of my books get swapped on https://www.ReaditSwapit.co.uk or swapped/given away through https://www.bookcrossing.com.

I've sold 16 books on Green Metropolis in three months. Still have about 100 listed. No problems at all. I've made two payment claims so far, which have reached my bank account within a few days.

    Highly recommended as a sideline.

I've sold about fifty books through Green Metropolis over the last six months or so. Payments into my bank account have always gone smoothly. It pays to wade your way through the "Wish list" every now and then, as people sometimes list books you've completely forgotten you owned!

  • Thanks all for the replies. I put some titles up and ironically the first to sell is Martin Lewis' Money Diet! Haha... :D (I read it twice and decided it was time to circulate it.)

I like the idea of a sideline and the fact that there is no deadline (unlike ebay). I'm intrigued by bookcrossing but haven't sent any into the "wild" yet. I find the ReaditSwapit site difficult as I don't always have something for the other person, whereas I've found a number of titles I've been looking for on Green Metropolis.

Oh, I just edited to say I haven't tried Amazon marketplace yet, but maybe soon!

    Thanks again!

I've sold about 4 books on Green Metropolis and bought several too. I recently wanted to buy a book and was delighted to find I was £3.75 in credit - had forgotten about it.

Transactions have been smooth for both buying and selling and recouping money.

This thread has reminded me to use them more often.
