In supermarkets in general, what annoys me is:

    (i) people who put their stuff on the belt, just to get ahead in the queue, then disappear to get their remaining items, meaning everyone has to wait until they come back

(ii) couples where one person (usually the bloke) just stands around doing nothing, while the other does *all* the packing- doesn't he realise that by helping out, they could reduce the packing time by half?

(iii) those people (usually women) who insist on packing every single item, and only then hunting for their purse and then their card. Why not have the card ready, so that the card validation can be done while they continue packing?

Am I turning into Victor Meldrew I wonder?...

Aldi checkout staff are better paid than the "normal" supermarket staff, too.

I believe Lidl staff are also better paid. There are never many checkouts and checkout staff have other jobs to do when they have no-one to serve...

...............which is why you pay so much more in other supermarkets !

Exactly! I use Lidle and Aldi and I have to bite my tongue when people in the queue carp on about there only being one or two checkouts. You can't have it all - cheap food, loads of staff etc.

  • The 5 foot high posters at the end of my local stores, just where you look whilst you are waiting, saying something along the lines of 'please put your stuff into the trolley and pack it at the front of the store' seemed pretty clear to me.

Then I read in the local paper that one woman wants to sue them because they asked her to put the stuff in her trolley. She even said that she knew that was the system but she didn't care what everyone else did, she preferred to pack at the till!

I am sure they aren't too upset about her 'I'll never shop there again', either...

Some one did this in front of me once so as i took the stuff out of my trolley i put theirs in much to the amusement of others waiting. Person was so unhappy but really could not moan, and i had the support of others customers, try it some time, it makes you feel good:beer:

I was fed up of this white haired 'lady' barging me and others out of the way to get to the till first every time she went shopping, normally cutting straight across you and bashing your trolley out of her way. She seemed to be relying on her age making it OK - she seemed to be physically healthy, judging by the way she sent weaker people flying.

So, the last time she saw a small, vulnerable lady, just a foot from the till - she sprinted with her trolley at arm's length - and stopped dead with a huge crash, as I gently rolled my (extremely full) trolley back into her path, shielding the innocent shopper. Everyone in the queues knew her and I could hear quite a few sniggers as she spluttered 'oh - oh - I was going over there' and I replied 'Queue starts behind that lady, dear', and the checkout supervisor (whom had seen it all) just happened to get in the way of her, so that another 3 people joined the queue in front of her!

    I hate bullies.
