    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Number 180 checking in.

The nearer I get, the more obsessed I seem to be with being MF. Now the daily interest is low, I usually know what my mortgage balance is to within a pound or so. And the closer you get, the longer each payday seems to take to come around! Job still holding out for now.

£1900 overpayment + £31 mortgage payment (£17.10 of which is interest):

    Old Mortgage balance: £8,210
New Mortgage balance: £6,300 (£20,800 paid off since start of 2010)

    Milestone achieved:
3 months to go at current repayment rate
Milestone achieved: <£0.50 interest a day (was 57p, now 43p)
Milestone achieved: Monthly mortgage payment < Monthly Building/Contents insurance payment

Current target: Repay mortgage by end of October. (if job holds out)

No.44 checking in with July figures.

Unfortunately I'm going in the wrong direction this month!!!

I overpaid (i.e. lodged in my savings account) £173.34 in July, however I had to withdraw £500 to decorate my spare room. In fairness, this room really did need decorating as it hadn't been touched since I moved into the house 10 years ago and had become the 'junk' room. A friend of mine is splitting up with her OH and once they sell their house she is possibly moving in with me for a short while until she finds the right place to buy for herself hence the mad panic to get my spare room decorated. Even if she doesn't end up coming to stay it gave me the kick up the b*m that I needed to get it done!

So my overpayment (or should that be underpayment!!) this month is -£326.66 and my ytd total is £4557.21.

Starting to think that my revised target of £7000 may be a little optimistic, epecially now that I have taken on the horse. Will need to get my thinking cap on and come up with some money making schemes!!

    Hi Cake
Lots going on here, not been able to keep up my diary! I'm moving, downsizing at some point, when I finally sell this house. It's a relocation so I'm temporarily unemployed as of 1st September, so I may end up dipping into my overpayment savings :-(.

Anyhow, here are the payments I haven't told you about:

    Savings

    June: £1050
    July:1050

    Overpayments
    June: 1115.32
    July: 1116.69

No 66 reporting in somewhat belatedly for July.
After a glorious June in all senses of the word it was a more mundane July with a more mundane OP to match - £1057.82
Unlikely to meet target I set at the beginning of the year. All my Ops come from salary/ OT and there are lots of financial changes in the pipeline at work so will need to do some belt tightening but am still employed . Rainy days/big bills seem to have been a regular presence recently and so I need to divert some of any possible OPs into rebuilding the rainy day/big bill fund (offset so same effect just means mortgage balance goes down slower and will take a little longer to be MF).
Keep up the good work everyone and thank you Cake for keeping the records

Number 190 checking in. £50 paid for August :T

I've had to reduce it from £75 to generate funds to pay off my 0% credit card before the introductory offer expires in Sept. We moved house in March so we've put most purchases on this, but time to pay it off now.

Still, £50 is better than nothing. Cake - posted an update via the form and thanks for keeping the log - it really does keep me focused ;)
