No 181 here. At last i have made an overpayment (well technically). Leeds have now informed me that i can only make capital payments of at least £1000 so i will be paying my overpayments into my ISA account and paying them to mortage each time i get to £1000 if that's ok. They dont make it easy.

I'm just delighted that i have been able to overpay anything as it has been a tough couple of months. Still hope to make my target though as DH should get his back pay end of September now - fingers crossed guys.

Well done to all the superb ops going through.

    Hope everyone ok:A

Soz Cake......forgot to send my July OP in. Done it now. £437 smackeroonies....that's quite a bit for me. That was made up by:-

2 Halifax Reward accounts = £10 per month, why thankee Mr Halifax
Car Ins didn't cost as much as I'd budgeted
Shaved the surplus balances off my accounts - ie money I was planning to need
Moved some out of my savings £350
    Cashback Earnings! £49 Ding Dong
    Piggy Bank £15

It all mounts up. This brings me to 81% achievement of my goal for this year......which in hindsight was a bit low at £2k. Before I started looking at the forum and getting inspiration from like minded folk I was OP'ing, but not a great amount....it was what I thought I could afford. But after getting little ideas from everyone else and also the effect of a 'challenge'.....well it's amazing how much more you can eek out here an there

    Thanks guys

2 people (sheslookinhot, violetblue) tantalisingly close to being mortgage-free

Ooh I got a mention!! *blushes* Thanks Cake! :D

Have just made my July overpayment of £500, meaning that I have already reached my target for the year of £4000 OPs! :j

However... My (rough) calculations at the start of the year showed me that by OPing £4000 I would be mortgage free by the end of 2010. But what has actually happened, is that every month when I've overpaid and the term has been recalculated, my monthly payments have dropped a little bit each time.

At the start of the year my monthly payments were £364.83, and now they're just £281.28 - a monthly difference of £83.55! Since the remaining balance is so small, that £83.55 is making a big difference so the capital isn't reducing as quickly.

So I may just have to increase my target and OP a bit more, to get the balance to zero by the end of 2010. Sooooo close...

MFW 124 updating. Realise I didn't post last month but still Op £1526 in June & a further £1622 this month. :TUpdated via spreadsheet this morning.
Really pleased with this. I am self employed & this is going much better than expected hence the sudden jumps in OP. If we can maintain this sort of level we will be MF by Jul 2012 instead of Jun 2013.
