Have decided to update for the first time in ages as I need to cheer myself up with an accomplishment!

    £1500 / £235 / £1185

Didn't expect to be so far along as it's been one of those years where everything breaks down / costs much more than expected. Going to take some real effort to keep overpaying from here on in as the same day we bought a new car complete with finance deal and costly monthly payments, dh's job went **** up and suddenly we're on one salary. Just call me Mrs Beans on Toast from now on! :(
    MFW 2015 so far..... £1808.70
    :) 2014 - £1451 2013 - £1600 2012 - £4145 2011 - £5715 2010 - £3258:)
Big new mortgage from 2017

Number 171 reporting in for June with an OP of £4300. Was supposed to be money for a holiday but making do with a few days away with the relatives instead.

Good to see everyones progress so far, I have 3 pay days left until I go onto unpaid leave (on maternity leave at the moment) then we go down to one wage, but will keep plugging away :)

Hey, I'm just being really nosey but I always notice your OP cos you are only a few lines above me on the spreadsheet, but how the hell have you managed to OP £20 grand in under 6 months. Was this all disposable income? I want your job and career and I could pay off my mortgage in under a year lol.

    Yours truly (fascinated and envious)

    Ooooh :D
Just checking this thread and I see I get a mention. Not 100% sure that I'm going to meet the £6k target anymore - having a bit of a cash flow crisis at present (read that as spending issues).

Need to check and project numbers for the remainder of the year and decide if I can still afford to commit to £500 OP each month.

Haven't put an update in for July - I've got overpayments set up to be automatically taken on the 1st of the month and keep forgetting to update. I'l put an update in this evening...

Hi all just checking in. Made a £75 OP this month but nothing more as yet. Posting here every now and then keeps me focused on the job in hand. Had a few unexpected expenses over the past couple of weeks (new car tyres etc), but don't expect anymore.

    Hi there

I know your question wasn't aimed at me, but I'm close with around £19K paid off since the start of the year (though I don't think the spreadsheet shows it) so thought I'd post.

For me, it's a case of any extra money goes in the mortgage, and I've thrown in my car savings money £4K, £1K premium bonds and my bonus (£1.5K ish) too. I have a fair bit of disposable as I have an OK salary, no kids and a frugal lifestyle :)

I cleared £64,000 last year somehow off of the mortgage balance which is over double my net pay. I'm still not really sure how I did that :P

173 reporting in with another July OP of £170. DH hasn't got any work not until at least Sept, so we have no income coming in (and can't claim contrib JSA, as it was less than 6 months ago that he last claimed - he has had 3 jobs end in 15 months!!)

    Shall see how it goes.....

Well yesterday's "this evening" turned into today...

My normal 1 post a month in this thread (#29) - have an automated overpayment of £500 going to our Nationwide mortgage.

    Target = £6k - ie 12 x 500

Sounds ok in theory, but we're already comitting £929.33 a month to the standard mortgage payment and the above £500 as OPs, ie total of £1,429.33

Some of the £1,429.33 comes from savings, ie treating the mortgage account as a savings account and transferring savings into there. But, having cash tied up in a fixed rate savings account and going on a bit of a spending [STRIKE]rampage[/STRIKE] run :o means we're short of cash.

Short to the point I'm not sure we can afford a £500 OP in August :eek::eek:

Still, automated OP was collected on 1st July and YTD total now stands at £3,500 / £6,000.

Updated via the google form. Calculator needs to come out before next month to make sure we can OP plus cover other bills.
