Can I join too please - other half thinks I'm crazy for being obsessed with watching the numbers go down so would be good to chat with likeminded mortgage beaters. I'm aiming to pay off £10K in 2010 which works out at around £835 per month (yikes! just worked that out - somehow 10K a year sounds less). I haven't had a go at this before so I don't have a number

    Thanks,

I'm 29 and married with an 8 month old daughter.

We bought our second home a 4 bed detached in August 2006 for £216,000 with a mortgage just under £140,000 on a 5 year fixed 5.25%, 25 year re-payment mortgage. Current monthly payment is 822.93.

My wife will shortly return to work on reduced hours after maternity leave and our joint income will now be reduced to approx £45,000 per annum.

We have a holiday booked for easter 2010 (payment of balance due in late January) so I will start my overpayments properly in Feb 2010 with possibly a token payment in January.

We do have a few thousand pounds in various savings accounts to cover emergencies.

My target for 2010 is to overpay by £4000

    Mark

Time I stopped lurking in this thread so could I have a number please.
The mortgage is i/o so the aim is an overpayment of £1,000 per month or £12,000 in 2010 which should broadly keep me in line with my MF3 T2 aim.
    Many thanks

Kazby - I must confess if I thought about my target as a monthly target I might give up :o - it's based on savings from interest rate cuts, utility savings etc plus £100/month for challenge :D

I've put you in at no. 68, unless you'd prefer to hang on for the more memorable 69? :D

Thanks Zav :T If I get as much motivation as I did last year following your thread that will be fantastic :j (it was the only thing keeping the "OP attitude" going when I reached my OP limit :A)

Hey Cake, No 68 it is - Thanks, can you put me down for £5k, hopefully although we'll start off with fairly low OP's as we're still doing the house up the aim is for the biggest stuff to be sorted soon (Kitchen's nearly done :j:j:j) and the OP's to iincrease later on in the year - though I also have a small(ish) CC to clear!!! Maybe have to re-evaluate half way through the year....

Thanks again Cake - big appreciation (and sympathy :rotfl:)
