hi all - thankyou for the kind words about my grandparents burglary yesterday .
Spoke to my Mum last night, turns out they are ok about it (over £3,000 stolen - I'd be less than ok!) it turns out my nanna was scared to put it in the bank as it was money for work to the house and funeral expenses and she was concerned about losing some of it in tax .
I knew she wasn't scared of using the bank - she was in fact being clever -she's got two bank accounts of savings but knew she was going to start paying tax. If only she'd have told someone in the family we could have opened an account and she could have had the money in the bank safely just under a family name.
The insurance will give her £500 and that has already been sorted. The police fitted locks and a door sensor alarm for free. It's all a bit odd though as the previous day she had a wall built.......and paid for it in cash (1200!!!!)....the burglars didn't make a mess, just opened a few drawers in one room.......all seems a bit of a coincidence.......
Anyway, she had the op. on her wrist and is at home with my grandad, so hopefully the flowers will cheer her up. :T
Was VERY cross with my BF as when I told him, he had a huge go at me saying I couldn't afford to send flowers when I had debts. He said I should have sent money to my mum and asked her to buy some which were cheaper.
This is while he was sitting there eating food I'VE bought, I'VE cooked, HE'S not contributed to, but HE is eating!!!
Wasn't happy.
Anyway.......looking to make some weetabix cake in the next day or so for a staff picnic next week, but I need to do a test batch first............grin......;)
Breakfast: yoghurt and fruit
lunch: curried lentils and a pitta
dinner: chilli"Stay Wonky":D

Afternoon (just) all,
Sounds like Rzl, TM & Nelski have a busyy few days planned. Enjoy!
Am a bit  this week as I lost a bit of filling a week or so ago & having been to the dentist I have been told I need a crown, which even though I've got an NHS dentist is going to cost £350 (could get a gold NHS one for £290, but if I've got to spend that much anyway may as well get a less obvious white one as other filling is white too). And I'm STILL waiting for the hospital appointment to get all my wisdom teeth removed. I'm not liking my tetth right now.
And to top it off, my car was overheating like mad on the way home from work yesterday & when I got out it had water spurting out of the grill. Boyf had a look, tried to fill with more water/coolant but most splurged back out. We took it to the garage on way to work & it need a new radiator. Total cost £249 all in. The worst thing is that the car is only worth about £600 and i was planning on trying to start selling it next week anyway as boyf has just sold his v expensive sports car which was a money burner & is being given his dad's old car for free (BMW) at the weekend as we only need one & are madly saving up for house deposit. In reality I'm now only going to get £350 for my car now (taking into account money spent today). At least this & dentist can come out of the savings, but still frustrating
We were going to start looking at houses next month, but now may have to put it back a month or 2 while we get savings topped up again.
Aoart from that though, all is OK. We're both having Friday & Monday off work so we can have a nice long weekend. Nothing to much planned, just some nice relaxing time together.
We're house/dog sitting for some friends from Thursday for 2 weeks, then a break of 5 days, then for another week (they have lots of holidays. Pre Light Bulbers!). The hubby is a chef at a school & they broke for summer hols on Friday so have "liberated" loads of food from school, which they have said we must use up, so at least we can save on the food shopping in July!

Afternoon all
Busy morning with lots of littlies here, down to one for now and pick the next lot up off the school run.
Got a gammon in the SC with some white wine, carrots, celery, onion and water...smells lovely, going to serve with new pots and salad for tea, after we've been for a swim...feeling very virtuous...all this exercise.
Managed to win one of the freebie pontins holidays, on the freebies board. We've got a 3 night stay from the 7th July at Camber Sands...it's only an hour from us so will leave early on monday to get the kids into school on time....it's the same place we stayed in May, very basic but clean and the evening entertainment is a good laugh....and the beaches are to die for...all that soft sand - 7ish miles of beach there.
Got a few calls to make about childminding insurance while little one is asleep.
Hope you all have a great afternoon."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Hi everyone!
Well OH is off on a 3 day jolly to Wiltshire so I'm all on me tod. It's very strange...the minute he's away I behave quite differently. I eat at different times, go to bed at weird hours [not such a fab idea when I've got work in the morning but hey ho!!]. I do miss him but like having the house to myself for a few days [well in the evening anyway once the small person's hit the hay]
Not too much on today. Have washed the floors. Am planning to pop into town after work as need to sort out OH's birthday pressie and get the bits sorted out for my half of the pamper hamper my sis and I are doing for Mum's 60th birthday next month. Will also need to take some books back to the library.
Planning a straightforward tea tonight of croissants filled with condensed mush soup and fried onions [a recipe pinched from here I do believe!] Shall be a good girl and eat with the small person early otherwise I won't bother and I shall graze on all manner of rubbish before bed!!
Just one small request from my fellow Old Stylers....Please stop posting such fab tips...:D all this talk of flylady and sorting through old piles of paperwork got me rootling through my hidden stash at 1am this morning. [I'm very protective of my OS stash!] I usually pride myself on being pretty ruthless and good at decluttering but this place is my Achilles Heel. I started looked through my OS file...fatal. It's absolutely stuffed with scraps of paper where I write down all the tips [I'm very anal about my OS tips and like to write them out!!:rotfl: :rotfl: and now I'm going to have to sort them out which I've been putting off for the last 18 months!! Anyway I may not be around for the next couple of days as I shall most probably be buried under a mountain of paper somewhere in my bedroom manically muttering "now where did that recipe for chocolate and beetroot or was it courgette go!!"
Have a great day
