Met up with some friends for lunch and they gave us a little present:
A huge tin (ie moneybox) which says on the side "saving for a first house" fund. We're putting £1 coins in there and have already got £10 worth. Apparently it should hold about £500 in total. Anyone wish to contribute?Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Afternoon.
I'm hiding out upstairs as DH is tackling a major DIY project downstairs, removing a several metre long york stone fireplace. We've been on with it for absolutely hours tidying things away in the living/dining room. I've personally thrown away a small rainforest, and now i've brought the rest of my school work to my bedroom to tackle some lesson planning and filing. I have a sinking feeling that it might be all downhill from now and take months to sort out. DH absolutely insisted it had to be done today, and i've still got a good few hours of school work to do,mainly report writing.
I think it might be hard to concentrate with all the banging, plus trying to work on the bed which i haven't done since i was at uni, and it wasn't that comfortable then. I think i used to lay on my belly and there is not much chance of that.
Sorry to hear Moggins DD isn't well again. You sometimes get a bit run down and then pick up everything don't you. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for her.
 Happy birthday Glad and pooky.
Also, hugs for racy - chin up for brighter days ahead.
Best go and actually do something or i might be here till midnight working.

Me again
I'm sitting outside, laptop on my ermmmm lapand someone in one of the neighbouring houses is singing at the top of her voice to some music. No doubt she thinks that she's some kind of "Pop Idol"............ However, she's flat. VERY flat. And it's getting quite annoying. I wouldn't mind too much if it was just the music being blasted out........... but it's not.

Afternoon all
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Had a lovely day, off out early to a bootfair, didn't get anything but it was nice to wander....then it was off to pick some strawberries...a birthday tradition going back to when I was old enough to pick them.....3 huge punnets, mind you, think DD's ate more than they picked.
Then it was off to some local cliffs for a picnic and some kite flying before a dip in the pool at the health club.....very relaxing.
The downside is that nothing's got done today and I'll be busy getting straight again tomorrow.
Ah well - tomorrow's another day...
Hugs to all and Happy birthday Glad."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

well we now have only 1/4 of the fireplace left.
I've managed to tidy up all the paperwork i brought upstairs by filing appropriately and then putting in the office. I've also fully written 7 reports and part written the other 13. I like to try and write something individual for each kid, and it takes me ages, whereas i know for a fact quite a lot of my colleagues just write 4, and then cut and paste, changing the name. I like to think the kids and parents would appreciate my efforts.
DH is still hammering, but i might brave going downstairs and starting to cook tea as i am starving. We didn't really do lunch.
The amount of dust isn't as bad as i thought, but it is all in the air. He's had the patio doors open but it hasn't done much, except perhaps stop the cats from keeling over.as they wouldn't go out - far too nosey like me!
Where has the weekend gone again? It will hopefully be a quietish week, but i have got to squeeze in 6 work experience visits, and mark two classes end of year exams. I don't know whether i like this time of year or not, but at least the end is in sight.
Didn't like moggins suggestion of longer school hours. I am pooped all the time as it is. Perhaps if we did a trade, and the parents did the teachers chores, like cleaning/ironing/present buying. :rotfl:
I'm going to see what kind of mess we are in. Wish me luck.
I'll pop in later, but not until i finish my reports.
Michelle. xx0
