The harsh truth about Tory policies

Laura, how do you propose we pay for a continuation of the current system?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I don't even no how to respond to a post like this. You are a very sad individual. I pity you.
Actually, Laura, I happen to both totally agree with you and the post of mbga9pgf's you quoted - it's possible to believe in caring for those who can't get a job and at the same time believe some people take the mick.
His position does not exclude yours or contradict yours.0 -

When cuts are made there are lots of things that can go before cuts in benefits - tax breaks on pensions for higher rate tax payers for starters, cutting child benefit for middle class families, scrapping trident, another 1% on Vat, charging for road use, etc.
Remember this too. Money for the poor is a good stimulus to the economy because it gets spent. If you keep doing what you've always done - you will keep getting what you've always got.0 -

Laura, benefits payments already exceed the entire income tax take from every worker in the land.
This is unsustainable.
So your solution is to tax us more??????
More VAT, More Road Tax, More Pension Tax, etc etc etc.....
We are already taxed to death. We have one of the highest tax burdens in the world, and higher tax would be unsustainable and cripple the economy and living standards.
So again, how do you want to pay for it?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

You're an idiot. Far too many drivers drive excessively with all the cameras we have now. God knows how much more dangerous our roads will become if we get rid of them.
What if you put police on the roads instead by freeing them of paperwork?
Just a little idea of mine. Won't take off of course.0 -

Believe me, Gordon hasn't got a clue.
He's just a champagne socialist.
Anyone who thinks Labour favour spreading wealth around more fairly should read up on the disgrace that is Actis/Aureos being hived off from the CDC.
It created some very rich civil servants, and ensured more of our economic aid was directed away from deserving projects.0 -

You're an idiot. Speed cameras are nothing but a stealth tax.
According to Police statistics, excessive speed is a contributing factor in less than 5% of all accidents. But blaming speed for everything is a great way for the government to tax us to death.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Spot on.
Be careful, however. You are not making a friend of the right-wing ranters on here.
They would rather not be told that the best way out of recession is not to help them but rather the worse off who will actually spend the money on goods and services instead of paying off mortgages...0 -

Ooh, we've discovered a Clarkson...
When will these petrolheads ever learn?
No matter how debatable speed may be as a cause of accidents, it is surely up there as number one suspect when it comes to the consequences - injuries and fatalities.
What is so difficult to understand about 'the harder you get hit, the more it hurts'..?
Or maybe they understand but just don't want to know...0
