The harsh truth about Tory policies

You see I don't agree with you - this ruling for the few not the many is just a soundbite.
It's just a difference in ideaology. The tories believe that the way to make everyone better off is to reward those who try to better themselves and their families whilst providing a safety net for those that can't/won't. Labour believe in lots of legislation to try to achieve fairness. Tories believe in not spending more than the country can afford. Labour believe in spending until the money runs out. The tories believe that low taxation helps the economy by encouraging businesses which trickles down to create more jobs thus heping everyone. Labour believe that high taxation is the best way to achieve a fairer society and good public services.
I used to be a lefty myself. The reason that I've moved to the right rather than further to the left (if you take it as read that I've been totally disillusioned by Labour over the last 13 years) is that I really believe that left wing policies achieve the opposite result of that which is intended, ie everyone ends up worse off in the end. I also dislike the authoritarianism and state interference in people's private lives that inevitably comes with big government. I think I had to actually experience a Labour government to realise how annoying that really is.0
